Your flood switch activated, try flushing out the unit manually, then fill with cold water from faucet as hot water from the machine will make more suds and cold water will kill suds,do this to purge unit of soap this should remedy your situation

SOURCE: Continuous rinsing

Put 2 tablespoons of oil into the water at the bottom of the dishwasher it will help break up the suds. Sprinkle as well ordinary table salt liberally across the suds to disperse them. Try to drain the unit as much as possible, soaking up any residual water or suds with a dry towel. Let the machine fill again, and repeat the process if necessary. Good luck !

How does soap dispenser work? what does up for liquid and down for powder mean?

Liquid laundry soap (comes in plastic liquid container) uses the up. Dry powder laundry soap uses the soap that comes in a box, therefore not liquid. and uses the down switch slider control.

White residue on dishes

This has become a huge problem and a big misunderstanding on what the white dried residue is on your dishes.....IS it hard water probably not . Due you use liquid or powder soap and fill both soap compartments !!!!ow

well here is a solution first stop using to much soap!!!
most people only need no more than a tablespoon of soap.... powder or liquid..total... dont forget that powder soap can go bad in those card board boxes in a humid enviorment,,,( under the sink) remove and discard any soap that's clumpy and pour rest in a tupperware dish...

so here is how to remove white residue off dishes...

Fill your kitchen sink with hot water no soap and 1 cup of vinegar let dishes soak dont let water cool scour dishes in sink no soap rinse them and air dry all dishes .... some dishes may be ruined due to how long white residue had been on them called etching..... now we need to clean the dishwasher start dishwashere like normal no soap and let run for few seconds when dishwasher starts to fill open door and pour in atleast 2 cups of vinegar close door and let dishwasher run cycle repeat necessary till residue is of wash arms racks door and cabinet walls ... these steps need to be repeated in most cases a few times ...

Soap is not completely washing all the soap powder away.

Stop using the powdered detergent. It has a reputation for clogging up machines and pumps. ALWAYS use the liquid detergent.

The dishes come out with a white film on them. they are not clean clear dishes, the bowls and glasses have a film. I was using cascade dry soap switched to liquid soap still have the problem. what can I do...

add Jet Dry or some other sheeting agent to the wash. also most pros frown on liquid soap (gel) so try the hard tablets, most have the jet dry built in. This also ensures the correct amount of soap. if this is a new development check the screens on the bottom of the washer under the spray arm and see if they are clogged with food or gunk. sounds like you are not getting a good rinse.

Filled the rinse dispenser with liquid soap. how do I rinse this out? So I can use the washer without it sudsing up everywhere?

Hello chystalsbrr
Welcome,

You said you, filled the rinse dispenser with liquid soap. how do I rinse this out? So I can use the washer without it sudsing up everywhere?

You can try by turning off the breaker in the electric box that feeds the dishwasher for 5 minutes and see if when you turn it back on and the washer resets itself, and the soap door opens.
Or push cancel and then rinse and after it is done and goes to the dry cycle stop it and it should be open.

In the use of liquid soap in both a dishwasher and or washing machine you must use less soap. Half that of powder soap.
Or the suds will roll out of your dishwasher on to your floor. And this is not a malfunction on the dishwashers part. NO bad seal or anything!
In a clothes washer it will destroy the seal and bearing in less than 5 years!

Let me know how it goes!
