SOURCE: indesit w93 washing machine fills with water but doesn't start washing

Hi there. I have an old model, the indesit WM12. Never counted the flashing light (yours was 10) but my dial started clicking constantly at the drain part. I called Idesit and they told me it was a blockage in the filter.
The filter they speak of it located, on mine, at the front of the machine at the very bottom on the right. It is a black dial about 3 - 4 inches in diameter. Unscrew that anti-clockwise (a real pain because so much water comes out. My wife and I unscrewed it, filled a baking tray with water, screwed it back up, emptied / substituted tray then same all over again - until empty. Though putting it on drain again and again helped at same time). When I pulled out the filter found a 'colour catcher' sheet in it. We used them first time ever the other day. Removed that, gave filter a wee clean and, hey presto, all is working again. Hope that helps. Jim

Yes, they are easy enough to replace, but you need to test them with a multimeter to see if they are faulty..
There could be other things wrong.

If the water continues to run into the washer after switching it off, then the water inlet valve is sticking, and needs to be replaced, this is the valve where the hose(s) connect to.
If it stops running in when you turn the washer off, then it is the water level switch that is not working.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Indesit iwe8123 not spinning

Its an old belief that the motor is at fault when a machine doesnt spin on full speed.
Most of the time its because its not emptying properly. Firstly check the filter for any blockages and if thats clear unplug the machine and tilt it over so you can see the pump. If your not sure which is the pump then follow the drain pipe in from the back and what that connects to is the pump. You will have to remove the pipes from that and make sure they are clear and also the pump if possible. If thats all good then it may be a carbon brush problem in your motor thats at fault. That is an easy job even for a novice. If you get no joy with the pump then let me know and i'll talk you through that too.

There is water flowing to the washing machine then straight out down the waste pipe, there is also a noise whilst it does this like a pump? This is when the machine is turned off. It is an indesit machine.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This sounds to me like it is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Does the Indesit model No W113 have to have hot and cold water intake or can I blank off the hot water intake?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
In two words- NO and NO! No, you need it to be cold fill only (presumably) and No, you do not need to blank off the hot water intake.
You will need to purchase, from a hardware (?) store, a 'Y' adapter. Upside down the single end screws onto the cold water supply and the hot and cold was pipes from the washer screw onto the double end. The washer is fooled into thinking it has hot and cold! When it expects hot, it opens its hot valve but instead gets the cold water and has to heat it up. It will therefore take longer for the machine to do the washing. When it wants cold for rinses, it opens its cold valve and gets the same water! Simple ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

Hot/cold feed

you can have just cold but you will need to have both hoses, (presuming it's hot and cold fed washer), connected to the water otherwise the machine will be waiting for the water to flow that isn't there. you can buy 'y-shaped' adaptors for this purpose.
the water is heated inside the machine to correct temp anyway.

Indesit DG6100W problem...please help!

Hi, I have the same dishwasher and it fills from the cold supply, not the hot and it doesn't have a cold cycle as is previously suggested, as you will know kellyemb :-)

The Indesit DG6100W does a fill from the cold and heats as it washes, so if it's sticking part way through, it could be the heating element. Have you tried opening the door when it sticks and seeing if the water is hot? The heating element went on ours and it kept tripping the electric whenever the it tried to start to heat the cold water. If it is the element, they don't cost much to replace, even cheaper if you know someone who can fit it for you! Ours cost us around £12 and hubby fitted.

The only other thing I can think of is it might be the timer, like someone has suggested but how to reset it, I have no idea. I have seen on another website that a replacement timer is around £55 plus VAT, which is a little expensive.

Hope you get it fixed.
