No any attempt to polish the coating will just remove more of it and make the defect worse. The only thing you can do here is replace the glasses

How can you remove scratches from eyeglass lens?

I'm afraid not. the light modern glasses, have a coating, trying to remove a scratch will remove the coating, and change the correct focus on that part of the lens. If the scratch is in the visible part, do you see a dull part, I'm afraid you have to buy a new glass. If it is not visible for you, try to live with it, till you need a new pair.

Glasses

use toothpaste rub a small amount on the scratched lens depending on how deep the scratch is rub the toothpaste over the scratch until the scratch is repaired.
Glass lenses are delicate and can be easily scratched.
These scratches mar vision beyond the lens, and can sometimes obstruct vision completely.
Prevention is the best method to keep glasses clear, but accidents can occur.
Luckily, there are several ways to quickly and inexpensively remove scratches from glass lenses.
These methods include using toothpaste, baking soda, windshield fluid and vehicle wax.
Apply a small amount of toothpaste on a soft, cotton cloth.
Rub the toothpaste onto the lens using small, circular motions.
Continue wiping for about 10 seconds and rinse with cold water.
For deep scratches, the method may need to be repeated.
Mix two parts baking soda with one part water to form a thick paste.
Use the cotton cloth to apply the paste to the lens, rubbing in a circular motion.
Rinse afterward and dry with a separate cloth.
Once again, this step may need to be repeated for stalwart scratches.
Apply a small amount of windshield fluid to a soft cloth, and polish the glass lens for several seconds.
This is more useful for light scratches, and is usually not effective against deep, prominent blemishes.
Use a clean cloth to buff vehicle wax onto the glass lens, once again moving in a circular motion, and continuing until the scratches have been removed.
Use several cloths, as the wax can adhere to the fabric, marring its performance.
Purchase an eyeglass polishing kit from a local optometrist.
These kits usually contain a polishing fluid and a soft cloth.
They are ideal for removing scratches from small glass lenses on glasses, cameras, telescopes and more.
They can be purchased for $10 to $20 and include easy-to-understand directions.

What are the differences between lenses? I know some are made of plastic and some from glass..Thanks!

There are couple of materials in which sunglassess are made of. 1. Glass Lenses
- it's has number of advantages: -Exceptional scratch resistance (don't need scratch resistant coating).
-Excellent optical clarity.
-Anti-reflective (AR) coating adheres to glass very well.Disadvantages are:-At least twice the weight of plastic or polycarbonate lenses.
-About 25 to 40 percent thicker than polycarbonate and high index plastic lenses.
-Can shatter or chip easier than lenses made of other materials.
-Require a special coating to provide 100% UV protection Second type is Plastic Lenses:Advantages:

Lightweight - About half the weight of glass lenses.
Plastic lenses accept tints easily.
More shatter - resistant than glass lenses.

Disadvantages:

About 20 to 35 percent thicker than polycarbonate or high index plastic lenses.
Require scratch-resistant coating for added durability.
Require a special coating to provide 100% UV protection.
Another type is Polycarbonate Lenses:Advantages:
Safest lens material - 10 times more impact resistant than other lenses.
Thin - About 20 to 25 percent thinner than plastic or glass lenses.
Lightweight - About 20 percent lighter than plastic lenses.
Blocks 100 percent UV rays without needing a special coating.
Disadvantages:
Requires scratch-resistant coating for durability.
Peripheral vision may be slightly less clear in strong prescription powers.
More lens reflections than glass or plastic lenses (AR coating recommended). High Index Plastic Lenses-Advantages:

Lightweight - Between plastic and polycarbonate lenses in weight.
Thin - About 15 to 30 percent thinner than plastic lenses.
Better peripheral optics than polycarbonate lenses (for prescription sunglasses).
Disadvantages:
Requires scratch-resistant coating for durability.
More lens reflections than glass or plastic lenses (AR coating recommended)

Is there any DIY methods to fixing scratches on sunglasses frame? I'm usually real careful with my belongings but I accidentally dropped my sunglasses today as I was walking the dog. Luckily the lenses are...

That is luckily the lenses are not scratched. We can polish the plastic by very fine sand-paper then by polishing wax. But we need to make sure the color of the plastic frame is not coated on the surface. It is because there 2 main way in plastic frame manufacting, injection moduling and plate lathe cut. the injection moduling usually color coated on the surface.

Scratched lense on 8x50, any idea where i can get (im in ireland)

The good news is that as your binoculars are a premier brand, there is extensive after-sales care and spares support so almost any fault can be repaired.

Scratched lenses can only be remedied by replacing the damaged lens; due to surface coatings on the lenses (both optical and Swarovski's exclusive non-stick coating) it's not possible to polish out the damage. Even if you could, it would alter the shape of the lens and therefore adversely affect it's optical properties.

The bad news is that a scratched lens is not covered by the manufacturer's 30 year warranty so you'll have to pay, and it won't be cheap! But it's definitely worthwhile in view of the extremely high price of the product when new.

You should click on this link to find out how to get the repairs done (or use this link if you're in the USA). Basically, the repairs are usually done by the Austrian factory except if you're in the USA .

Before having the binoculars repaired you need to consider whether the damage is functional or merely cosmetic. If it's the latter, then there's no need to have them repaired unless further damage occurs. If the damage actually affects the viewed image then it may still be acceptable if it's only infrequently evident (e.g. due to bright objects in the dark, or only when the Sun is at a particular angle).

My plasma tv has several really deep scratches on the screen, how can i go about repairing this?

There are liquid solutions for filling LCD scratches
it's basically a plastic material that fills the scratch.

Big scratches are more of a problem. I am assuming that your
Plasma screen has a glass surface and that it's only scratched,
not physically broken. You may also try glass polishing compounds
for filling and polishing chipped windshields. Be careful, try it on a small spot first to make sure that you don't dissolve any plastic anti-reflection coatings etc.

Good luck
