My Panasonic PT-AE900E projector has started going through a cycle where after about 10 mins of being switched on the colours saturate and look like they've lost a channel, the brightness drops and the picture quality deteriorates. It then seems to come back to normal after a further 15-20 mins. This has only just started happening in the last month and i'm concerned it will get worse. Is this normal? I have had the projector for just over 2 years. don't know where it tells me how many hours the bulb has done?! any help would be much appreciated. Robbie

SOURCE: PT-43LC14 No Picture, chirping sound when turned on

Begfore calling a servicer, pull the bulb out and check if it is broken. The chirping you hear could be the ballast trying to fire the lamp. If it is blown, make sure you clean the vent filters when replacing it.

SOURCE: Black/Green Distortion - Picture Quality - Wharfedale

This is no solution but a point in a probable direction.

A tech guy told me ALL the LCDs they have seen in their repair shop have "swollen" capacitors, this is due to voltage instability. Lowering the internal voltage regulator and replacing the swollen capacitors (which eliminate noise) apparently restores the LCD to new working quality. Without actually "seeing" my problem the tech said that should repair it. I have not tried this yet but eventually will begin that way.

SOURCE: Optoma H30 Projector: color banding

Most DLP projectors have a colour wheel. It's usually hard to get at, and you may have to actually remove everything including the optical block from the projector to access it. This wheel turns on a motor just like a fan, and if it gets dirty it can act up just like a fan.

They are expensive to replace, so you might want to try taking it apart and cleaning it out. Add a small amount of 3 in 1 oil to the motor if you can.

I need to zero the lamp hours on a panasonic PT-AE900E projector

Hi. Press menu and you'll see the menu on screen. Go to options, highlight the runtime hours figure, and press and hold the "enter" button. The hours figure will change to "Power Off" which is what you do next, good luck!

Colours have gone and picture quality became very dark. Now wont stay on for very long...will switch off after about 10 mins of viewing.

Unfortunately dim image and premature shut-off are normally due to a defective lamp assembly. I'd recommend removing the lamp and inspecting its condition. You'll notice black corrosion build up or a bubble is starting to form around the filament of the bulb if it is what's causing the dim image/premature shut-off.

I own a panasonic pt-ae900e i have notice a thin uneven green transpairant line in the middle of the screen lamp time 1987 hrs

Experience:
There is three LCD (liquid crystal display) in your projector when one LCD faulty he display a line some time flickering line one or two lines. Due to other two LCD is working well so this line is looking transparent. If BLUE LCD faulty than the line color is very light green or yellow.

Second option is this that your projector lamp life is near to end and after 2000 hours projector is very dirty inside and need service.
(service of LCDs and other parts of projector is a very technical job and I don't know you can do it or not)

Keeps turning off

So, Shutting down to protect itself. The error light says it needs service, Cycling power makes it work for a few more minutes, then the Panasonic safety circuit shuts it down. Projector shuts down when bulb life gets to the danger zone, and also when its heat sensor says there is a problem.
So you have a bulb life issue or you have a dirty projector / fan cooling issue??

I say clean it up with some compressed air when it is cool, then check the # of hours the bulb has on it (in the menu).

Lastly brace yourself, the bulb is gonna hurt you :-$

I have a PT-AE900E & have developed lines running vertically down the screen evenly spaced apart. What is causing this??

Hello,

If these lines are coming with the input signal then you have to check the Cable connectors.

If these lines are coming without the signal then check the panels and service then recheck.
