Question about Mitsubishi WS-65511 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Hello. I have a Mitsubishi ws-65511 that does not have a picture or sound. A green flashing lite blinks too quickly to count the number of flashes and must be over 30-50 before it pauses. Do you think it is the capacitors that need to be replaced?

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS 65511 convergence

Go on line and get an original Sanyo STK 393-110. Next, restore the blue centering rings back to where they were before you moved them. Look at the paint marks on the rings for reference if you are not sure. Replace the IC and check the resistors nearby for signs of overheating and proper value. Also check the fuses that supply the 24v to the IC. The service manual will show you the fuse location and give you the resistor values in the blue horizontal and vertical circuit. Checklist: You need a de-soldering tool or a good quality Dry Wick. Have a small tube of heat sink compound to liberally apply to the new chip. The hardest part will be lining up the double rowed pins on the chip and getting them to seat at the same time. Next, go to the convergence menu and follow the instructions. Good luck! PS you might want to remove the chassis from the cabinet to make it easier. Be careful to unplug the speaker plug and untwist the wire ties from the cabinet. Be very careful, this job is not designed for beginners.

I have a Mitsubishi Model WS-65511 the green light on the front was flahing (would not stop) I replaced the 7 Capacitors as was suggested. The light flashed for a while then stopped and turned green

I think I advised you before (on this page you will find a "make a comment button" which allows follow up questions and answers without posting another question.

Green power light now comes on and goes out in few seconds:

On front of set (not the remote) press and hold when that happens both the menu and input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a 2 digit code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and repeat that several times---this is an error code---let me know what code you find.

Note: if you have unplugged the set it clears the error codes and you have to plug back and try to turn set on--let it fail and repeat the self check.

Green flashing light and tv wont come on

Count the number of times the light flashes. After you know that, Google your make and model number with blink codes added to the end. This will take you to sites that will tell you what the blink code on your tv means. The blink code is a self diagnostis performed by your set to tell service where to start with repairs.

Contact a Mitsubishi service center and tell them the count of the pattern of flashes of the green light (Usually 2 - 9 flashes, a pause and then repeats) It will not be user serviceable.

The Bulb in the unit needs to be replaced. To confirm, look in the manual for the set and it will explain the flashing lights by the numer and duration of flashes. Hope this helps.

Press power button green light comes on.But no picture no sound,

I have had my WS-65511 fail like this, first at 4 years, second 2 weeks later, then 3rd time yesterday (4/14/2009). In past, the tech replaced a thermal sensor p/n 299P313010A (but Mitsubishi says that part is not for WS-65511 and that it does not have a thermal sensor - go figure). It is a white rectangle with about 30 pins in 2 rows and is soldered onto a board in the TV. List price is about $25. Might be your problem.

The steady green blinking led is due to the DM not completeing the boot Cycle. You can get the repair kit at the following link which contains the replacement Capacitors and step by step detailed instructions so you can do the repair yourself. Very inexspensive Kit
