Question about Dyna-Glo RMC-8001SS Heater

1 Answer

Purchased RMC-8001SS in 2005. I am working in a 12X12 shop and want to hook up with a 20lb propane tank. Need schematic, part numbers etc. Company contact 100% busy signal. Can you help?

I thought this would be a source of heat for my shop measuring 12'X12'. I find a small bottle does not last long and looking at possibility of 20lb refilable tank. Owners book tells that this possible but does not show parts needed. Book does say about having a qualified service person. Who is he? I know to be safe but it is only a B-B-Q set up. I have had several of these. Am I qualified to service. Book does mention a a hose kit No. 20-7500. Can you enlighten me as to if this is possible? I have a company phone number which is useless since it is busy 100% of the day.Thank you for your efforts.

Manual for RMC 8001SS

Dyna Glo heater RMC 8001SS is now made by Mr. Heater now as a Mr Heater Tag-a-Long. I tried going to the Mr. Heater website but the website doesn't allow me to open it for some reason. But they do not make the 8001SS. So after two days of searching I found that Home Depot where I got this heater in the first place now sell this model RMC 8001SS under a new name as a Mr. Heater Tag-a-Long now. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100649254/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=mr.%20heater&storeId=10051 You can get specs and some info from the Home Depot Website. You can also get parts at ace hardware http://www.acehardware.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1260877 to get parts. You can try to go to www.mrheater.com webpage to see if you can get more info. I was hoping to find a manual there with no luck. I was able to get enough information from the Dyna Glo I was hoping to get a manual there. I did get enough information from the manual for the Mr. Heater Buddy heater 173690 at http://www.northerntool.com/downloads/manuals/173690.pdf about combustion and ventilation to realize this is a emergency type indoor heater. All through this is not the same heater and should not use any other manual to figure this out I am now comfortable enough to say it should not be used indoors unless for emergency and only with the 1Lb propane cyclinder with adequate ventilation. So I still don't have the manual but I now know how to safetly us a heater like this. Hope this helps all those frustrated with finding info or parts for this heater!

Need to see pictorial instruction on how to replace wick in a Dyna Glo RMC-95-C2 kerosene heater

I think the Dyna-glow RMC95 series of heaters are equivalent to DH2300 series heaters.
In any event, the wick you purchased should have ahd the installation instructions included with the wick.

If it didn't or you tossed it, Here's a link to the DH-2300 series heater's Owners Manual, which may help you.

http://www.yourheater.com/DH2301-3%20owners%20manual.pdf

Good luck. Be sure to wear rubber gloves when you try to install the wick. Particularly, if you still have kerosene in the tank.

How long will one pound propane tank last

The 16.4 oz propane bottle contains 1.02 pounds of propane.
1.02 lbs propane equals 16.320 oz
16.320 oz equals 22.032 BTU’s.
The RMC-8001SS has two settings, maximum and minimum
The Max setting is rated at 8,000 BTU hour.
22.032 divided by 8,000 equals 2.754 or 2-3/4 hours
The Min setting is rated at 4,500 BTU hour.
22.032 divided by 4,500 equals 4.896 or 4.8 hours

One 16.4 ounce bottle will burn 22.032 BTU’s @8,000 BTU’s per hour for a period of approximately 2-3/4 hours and @ 4,500 BTU’s per hour for a period of approximately 4.8 hours.
