Question about Televison & Video
Will not start
Dear John A. Medford,
Ok, firstly have you checked the fuse at the plug end? Continuity test this and make sure that the fuse is not blown. If the fuse is OK, then you will need to open up the back of the TV and check the internal fuse, this is usually made of glass with a piece of wire through it, these are time delay fuses, T2, T3, T4, T5 are some common values.
If this has blown, then we will be checking components with a meter in order to determine which one has quit.
If the fuse is not blown, perform a continuity check on the cable flex using your multimeter, obviously with the TV switched off. If this still isnt throwing up results, then again you will have to multimeter components and visually inspect them. It may also be a problem with an SMT type component, if this is the case, then unless you have the means to swap out these chips, the TV will probably be only fit for either spares or the junk yard.
I would like you to let me know what tests you have done, and how far you hve got to with this; also any pictures or photos from the inside of the TV will be aq massive help.
I hope this is productive enough information for you to get started on, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
