Error SC 542 indicates a fuser temperature problem. Once the error is detected, the printer is toast until you manually clear the error from the keypad. Even though the printer is physically fine, it won?t come ready until the prior error condition is cleared. The magic keystrokes, clear the error code: The Fix In order to clear error SC542, you must perform procedure 5810. Press and hold online + escape, then power on. Use up and down arrow keys to select SP2 Press Enter Use up and down arror to locate SP5 Press Enter Use up and down arrow keys to select 810 Press Enter Confirm the selection Power off and on. The error code is now cleared.

To clear level A SC codes such as this SC541, you need to
Enter SP mode, and then turn the main power switch off and on, only.
Please check if the thermistors are the proper ones and are installed correctly in their position properly.
This is also useful for SC542.
Please check the thermostats and fusing lamps for open circuit.

The fusing temperature does not reach the fusing standby temperature within
125 seconds after the main power switch is turned on.
- Possible causes -·
Fusing thermistor defective or out of position
· Fusing lamp open
· Fusing thermofuse open
· BICU defective
· Power supply board defective
· Poor fusing unit connection

SOURCE: sc 542-00 trouble code
SC542 is a fuser error code and can ONLY BE RESET by a tech. Type pressing clr mode (button) then 107 then press and hold CLR Stop until a menu pops up. turn offf main power then on again. If there is no serious problem the code will not come back. IF it does call a trained tech. DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTING in the menu that comes up after pressing in the code. YOU COULD RENDER YOUR COPIER INOPERABLE!!!!!!
