1 Answer

I am trying to login to the advanced configuration on the router with the default username and password, but the dialog box asking for that information just reappears over and over again without any progress. I have not changed the default username or password as I have only just purchased the router. What do I do?

How do i create a password for my linksys

you have to access the router configuration page by typing the default ip address of the router http://192.168.1.1 in your browser when you hit enter it should pop up a login window asking for Username and password. by default from the factory Username should be left blank and the default password is admin
this will get you in the configuration screen click on the administration tab and there you will find the password boxes. make sure you type the same password on both window boxes then click save settings on the bottom
PS. don't forget your password otherwise you will need to reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back of the router and you'll have to repeat the whole process
good luck
