Question about Dell 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA Internal for Vostro 1500 Laptop (XX225) Hard Drive
You can verify the wireless card is connected properly by following the instructions in the service manual http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos1500/ but I don't believe you can verify the connection of the wireless switch without completely disassembling the system. If it is under warranty do not attempt this at all, call Dell.
If it connects when the wireless light is lit then something is obviously loose.
