You can verify the wireless card is connected properly by following the instructions in the service manual http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos1500/ but I don't believe you can verify the connection of the wireless switch without completely disassembling the system. If it is under warranty do not attempt this at all, call Dell.

If it connects when the wireless light is lit then something is obviously loose.

I do not know my wireless pc

b> If your computer will not connect to a wireless Internet signal, one of the first things to check is whether your computer's wireless switch is turned on. Many laptop computers have a switch located on the exterior of the computer that controls its ability to connect to wireless networks. This switch can be accidentally turned off, preventing users from connecting to the Internet.

Determine if your computer's wireless connectivity has been disabled by viewing the network icon in the lower toolbar on your computer's desktop. When there is a disruption in your computer's Internet connection, the icon will have a red X through it. For further information, go to the computer's Network and Sharing Center where you can troubleshoot connectivity issues and view available wireless networks. If the computer isn't recognizing any wireless connections (and you're sure that there are wireless signals in your area), the likely problem is that the wireless switch is turned off. Locate the wireless switch on your computer. It may be located on either side of the laptop or along the back or front. If you aren't sure whether your computer has a wireless switch, check the user guide that came with the unit. Determine whether the switch is currently in the "On" or "Off" position. The switch will be clearly labeled. Push the switch in the direction of the "On" position to ensure that it is turned on. If the switch was already turned on, see if there is a keyboard combination that will activate your laptop's wireless capability. The key combination for your laptop will depend on your computer's manufacturer, but will generally involve a combination of the Function, Control or Alt and the F1 to F12 keys. Check your user manual for your computer's key combination. Troubleshoot problems finding wireless networks

Check driver in Device Manager for Network adapters. Also check network connection (enable) in control panel. Test with cable if no problems are found.

At this point it appears your wireless network adapter has a hardware problem

Basically, when i try to access the internet using the wireless connection, the laptop tells me that connections are available .Then when i try to connect to access point,it takes some time and then tell me...

Usually the trouble shoot should fix your problem but my case using the same model, I had to turn off the wireless switch in the front and turn it back on. Then I needed a reboot. I had a Macbook on the side and had connections to the network but no internet connection was found. I later discovered it is the modem that was causing trouble to the 2 computers. So rebooting your modem by turning it off and on again should help. It did help in my case. Good luck.

Will not turn on. Power cord has green light when not plugged into pod, blinks lightly when plugged in.

Hi,

The blinking is indicative of a failure within the pod itself. Take the pod to your local PC shop and have the techs there transfer the drive into a new enclosure, if it works there you're in luck, buy the new enclosure and you're up and running again. If not the drive itself may be the issue, if this is the case, respond with your location(Country, State and City) and I will be happy to connect you with a pro in your region to assist you with retrieving your data.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

Cant connect my 1TB WD world edition to my linksys router

Your My Book World should not be formatted or you will lose all ability to access it through the Network -- it will simply become a hard-drive at that point. There is software installed on the hard-drives that communicate with your Router in order to obtain an IP and be available as a Network Drive. If the drive and the Router are communicating, you should see an IP in the DHCP list of your Router. It is possible that the My Book World is not setup for DHCP, so if it is placed in an alternate environment with incompatible static IPs, it won't be able to access the Internet or be available locally. You can try a hardware reset on the drive and see if it pops up in your Router's DHCP/Client list, at which point it should also appear locally and over MioNet (MioNet will need to register the device to an account before it will appear in MioNet, but it must detect the drive locally in order to attach).

1. Turn off My Book World
2. Identify the reset button on the back of My Book World
3. Depress the reset button while restarting My Book World
4. Keep the reset button depressed for about 10 seconds after you see blue lights on My Book World

I had the same problem - green light on power cord but when plugged in the green light would go off and the hard drive would do nothing. I took it into Geek Squad finally and it turned out that the problem was hard drive casing, which I had to have replaced.
