The most common jams on these printers are due to a worn out separation pad that allows the machine to pull multiple sheets if not all sheets of paper.

If this is not the jam issue you are experiencing let me know.

Computer says paper jam in printer but printer will make copies

Welcome to the ever popular-widely experienced world of:
PAPER SIZE MISMATCH!!!
YES! That wonderful world where unbeknownst to you but knownst to us (OK I watch Spaceballs WAY TOO MUCH) When you are sending a print job, somehow the paper size setting has been changed. Either in the printer itself, or in the print properties settings in your OS.
Double-check those paper size settings and try to print. If it still happens, try resetting the print settings in the printer back to factory default. Make sure you print out the printer configuration before resetting in case you need to reinstall those settings.

Brother 7840w keep getting paper jam inside open front door and remove paper from drum, I cleared jam and try printing same error again I change durm and still no good.

Most jams in this area of a printer are caused by two things: The Pickup Roller and the Separation Pad in the Tray. You can clean the roller with a coffee filter and water or use a non-amonia based cleaner. I suggested the coffee filter for several reasons:
Cheap, Lint Free & Durable. Now as to the Separation Pad: Rough up the pad with a sharp knife [lightly please!] or rub with steel wool. this should be done if the pad feels slick when you rub you finger over it. Also, check the registration sensor flag which is usually just under the toner cartridge or just before it. If that flag is sticking, or slow to return to its correct position, the signal detects its late and stops all paper movement thinking it's jammed.

Printer says paper jam when there is none

The printer may have an optical paper reader near the print head.

If you can, remove any plastic covers and blow out the head area with compressed air.

The optical reader may be located somewhere else also.

They get covered with paper dust and think its a paper jam.
Blow out all areas of printer.

Continuous PAper jam error-message!!!

Sounds like a small piece of the jammed paper is stuck inside on a paper path switch OR in pulling out the jam you've dislocated a switch actuator so it is not working correctly. Careful checking of the paper path components should find it. Probably a slot in one of the guides is hiding it.

Prints a couple of pages - then jams

Well, for now it seems to be fixed - I opened up the paper tray and there is a little part that grabs the paper on the front of the tray - kinda sticky - I just took a paper cutter and put a couple of scratches on it and it is grabbing the paper for now. I do have some of those to use for replacements - but I had just changed it about a month ago and don't think it needed to be changed out again - they usually last quite a while. So, we'll see how long this lasts. We do a lot of printing on this thing and it has been a great printer - maybe we are just wearing it out!

Printerjam

A paper jam error message will appear if the printhead is not correctly installed. Try removing and reinstalling the printhead again, but make sure it snaps into place. Try loading a sheet of plain paper and press at the same time copy+cancel; hold them down until the printer feeds the paper. The paper will go through the rollers and come out blank.
