Question about Symantec Norton AntiVirus For Macintosh 10.0 for Mac
I have purchased a renewal of Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh. In attempting to download by dialup(Broadband is not available in this area) the transmission has stopped twice at 5.8 MB and once at 27,8. This has now become too costly and too much of a timewaste. If no quick solution is available please arrange for a refund.
The reality of it is that you do not need an anti-virus program for a Mac. For now, there are no viruses ut there that attack a Mac. Norton and others simply have it as an advertising ploy to get people's money when they say you need Norton for the Mac.
The only benefit of an anti-virus program, right now, for a Mac is that it will scan your email going out to friends to make sure that any emails that were infected by a Windows platform will not be passed on to the friends of yours who use Windows.
Also, any geek will tell you - Norton, in and of itself - is a waste of time and money. On a Windows machine, AVP, Zone Alarm, Spybot Search and Destroy, Hijack This, are all free alternatives that can be used to get rid of the many things Norton cannot get rid of.
In fact, a lot of my geek friends who fix computers (and myself) classify Norton as its own version of malware. It is very hard to clean off of a system and, if you do not continue paying them for updates, it places an annoying reminder on your screen.
Get your money back - it is being wasted on an inferior product that the mainstream falls for.
