Drill chuck removal

I am trying to get the chuck off my drill and have removed the screw. Does the chuck screw off and do you need a special tool to remove it. Is it right hand thread or left?

The screw should be left hand thread and the chuck is normal thread. The 'workshop' way to remove the chuck is to remove the screw (done). If the jaws are still working then clamp a sturdy allen key in it and whack it against a workbench to unscrew the chuck. If holding the drill in the normal position you would stand with the workbench to your left and whack it down on that. If the jaws aren't working then you can grip the body in a vice and use large pipe grips or stiltsons on the chuck. Also check to see if the chuck spindle will accept a thin spanner to hold it, as this is a slightly more caring way to brace the spindle. Then you can can hold the spanner in the vice and use the allen key in the chuck and unscrew it that way.

How to remove a chuck from a DCD995 20V brushless cordless Drill/Driver/Hammerdrill

Look first how it looks inside the dcd995 its a tool with a little question mark about pos 24 in this tool dcd995 owners look at the drawing and list because i have repaired last week the first one of this dcd995 tools and i have not seen before this part so i looked it and have my toughts about it i was seen with 30 years experience about electronic it could simply be have no function !! i have made a phone call about this part in Dewalt Belgium asked about it why it was cost (in the beginning € about 16 euro,s here in the Netherlands ? no concrete answer was coming , so it has no function they could not tell me.
Never have marketing technical fakeparts i will call it find in tools but this is a mistery about a tool from almost 2 years old and still in production look it yourself on the drawing pos24 and the parts list . There was made a special axle end fixing tool for chuck removal a special tool was made by Dewalt for some type of chucks. but its still have function for the difficult/tiresome chucks that are damaged,

For the people with the special tool Remove all parts of the gearbox to and up pos 14 the special tool will be made for setting right up in a bench vise a round plate with in the middle an axis thats having an elliptical hole at the tip That fits exactly of the chuck spindle axis so there is no resiliency and wants to prevent damage or some planetary gears have now changed the drawing without the part pos 24 nice and quickly done service.dewalt.nl on dcd995 good job But today 18-12 i looked on the Dewalt service outside of Europe and i have found the old drawing of that dcd995 still with the pos24

yeah, you'll need to replace the chuck. to remove the chuck generally takes a special tool.that fits between the drive and the chuck, that keeps the drive from spinning when you unscrew the chuck, this tool varies by manufacturer,

Removel of chuke

Open your chuck as far as it will go and look inside. If you see a screw go to www.ereplacementparts.com/article/890/How_to_Remove_a_Drill_Chuck.html for a good how to on this.

If there is no screw inside the chuck you have to take the drill to a Dewalt service center and have them remove it. It takes a special jig to remove it and I don't think you want to spend over $200 to remove one chuck. Do not try to use the taper-fit tool on a cordless drill, they do not use the taper fit chucks.

How do i remove the chuck from dewalt dc925 cordless drill, dosnt have a screw inside the chuck, read somewhere that i need a special tool but no instruction or picture of the tool. please help., thank you

The dc925 and the current model dcd950 along with several other models of Dewalt 's line of cordless hammer drills DO NOT have a screw inside removal requires a CHUCK REMOVAL FIXTURE part #
233804-40 also you can't use a generic replacement chuck. As of 2/2/2010 the prices on the Dewaltservicenet web site are $72.74 for
the tool and $69.70 for the chuck, part # 330075-90.

Can't remove the chuck on a drill.

There are one-way (non-reversible) and two-way (reversible) drills. Mine is one-way. Methods for chuck removal are different for these two types.
Procedure for one-way (non-reversible) drills:
Drills of this type have no chuck screw, so one have to hold the spindle with a wrench, than to sharply strike the wrench with a hammer to spin it off.
Procedure for two-way (reversible) drills:
Open the chuck up and in the bottom is a screw that holds the chuck on the shaft. The screw turns in a clock wise motion to be removed and then you can top the chuck off the shaft.

Removing the dewalt DC925 'rohm' chuck

I simply placed the chuck into a large vise and turned the drill counter clockwise and the chuck spun right off no problem without damaging anything!! It does have some thread lock on the chuck but just use your man strength and its as simple as turning the lid off the pickle jar! Do not waste your time or money with the removal tool...YOU DONT NEED IT!
