The front of the receiver is a button you have to press it down and then in the controller press button 5 and 7 down WHILE re-inserting battery. This like a master reset.
SOURCE: When I plug my Usb Logitech Rumblepad 2, it says
Let's try refreshing the USB drivers. Try unplugging the controller. Then go and right-click My Computer (or just right-click Computer if you are using Vista). Left-click on Manage. A window will pop up that says Computer Management. In the list click on Device Manager and a list of objects will appear.
Click on the object in this list that says "Universal Serial Bus controllers". It will expand and then you will want to right-click on each USB Root Hub and left-click on Uninstall. (If you are using a USB keyboard and mouse, these may stop functioning until you unplug them and replug them into the computer).
Uninstall of these and then plug in your USB devices (including the Logitech Rumblepad 2) one at a time and Windows will start reinstalling the USB drivers for your devices.
Let me know if this resolves your issue or if you need any more help!
