SOURCE: Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 will not print with black ink

Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.
The number for Kodak AiO Support is 1 800 421 6699.

SOURCE: picture prints too pink

What you see on the screen is quite often not what prints. Sometimes the screen will not show a slight color anomoly. If your pictures were taken with a digital camera, this is quite common. Try the photo enhancement software that came with your camera, or alternately, your printer. They all supply the software because of color corrections that are at times necessary. Sometimes always. Hope that helps. Try the "Auto Correct" function that most photo correction software has. That should help!

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
  3. If the error continues, contact us.

The printed picture is not good. There is a pink tone to it. I have changed the colour and black cartridges but not much of an improvement. I use Kodak photo paper.

My first guess would have been low ink for cyan and yellow, but you said you have changed the cartridges. You may want to run a cleaning cycle a few in case there was cross contamination in the printhead making the colors look wrong. To perform a printhead cleaning hold down the Cancel and Copy/Resume buttons until the On/Off light flashes. Then release the buttons and the printer will run a cleaning process. Hold down Quantity and Cancel until the On/Off light blinks to print a test page. The printed test page should look like this:

http://www.kodak.com/global/images/en/service/printers/aio/troubleshooting/ESP_Test_Color_Block.jpg

If it matches these colors, then the printer is not the problem. Otherwise, you may have to replace the printhead, if you have had your printer for a while.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

  3. Wait approximately 30 seconds.

My printer prints everything in pink

I have had this happen with some ESP 3 printers. It is either a cartridge (I imagine your cartridges are fairly new) or a printhead issue. Open the access door, remove the cartridges and printhead, then reseat them. Hold Copy and Cancel for a several seconds until a calibration page prints. Check if your documents are printing properly. If not, go to Kodak's homepage (kodak.com) and enter their live chat support. They will probably send you new print cartridges or printhead as that is what they have done for me every time. Best of all, NO CHARGE!! Good Luck! Hope to hear from you soon.
