SOURCE: Fellowes Shredder Parent Part # 38605

If this unit is worth it to you, you can build your own gear.
Here is a link to get plastic repair materials to make plastic parts. This site also will have materials for repairing plastics.

Another possibility is to search Ebay for a unit like yours which has other problems. Never can tell... it may be there.
Make sure you ask for the model of the unit in your search (on the NET as well. The serial in this case is not needed.

You have to remove the top cover. Look under the top and remove screws. Gently lift top and do not stress the connecting harness. carefully remove paper shreds. Unplug of course!!

Paper jam, what to do

Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

My embassy schredder won't work although the light is on what should i do? is there some way maybe i can oil it or something because it's not clogged up or anything? what to do?

  • Cross cut shredders require more frequent oiling versus the straight strip shredders. The more paper and use it gets the more oil it requires. A good rule of thumb is to oil the machine each time you change the bag.
  • Use only shredder oil designed for the specific brand of paper shredder you have. Manufacturers design paper shredder oils to be heat tolerant for the cylinders and blades, and they calibrate them specifically for their machines.
  • Spray, squirt or run a bead of oil across the blade opening. It shouldn't take more than a second or two to reach from one end to the other. Any more than that may result in too much oil applied. Quicker than that means there isn't enough oil to adequately lubricate the machine.
  • Turn the paper shredder to "Manual" and run the gears in reverse for a few seconds, then turn the shredder on "Forward" or "Standard" mode. This ensures that you distribute the oil throughout the machine, and going in reverse first forces some of the dripping oil back up, and then the forward moving blades push it back through the gears.
  • Oil a sheet of paper rather than the machine. Don't just run a bead of oil across the bottom of the sheet because the paper soaks up the oil and the oil may not reach all of the necessary parts. Instead, spray the whole sheet, or run a zigzag line across the paper and immediately send it through the shredder tooil it.

Hi I Have a embassy paper shredder you can hear its on but paper wont feed, i decided to open it and saw that the spool wont spin at all, why is it doing this?

most likely you have broken one of the gears on the side of you shredder motor. If the motor spins look and see which gears are turning...... then you'll notice which ones are not. Look closely at the ones not spinning and you'll find you problem.

For an Embassy shredder, the forward function is not working.

I was able to figure out the solution for this by taking apart the shredder.

My model is a TX61B. There is a piece of plastic that is attached to an internal sensor. You can see it below the shredder slot with a flashlight. if it is sticking out, the sensor is not tripped, and the forward function stops.

To reactivate this, just put something down the slot like a thin screwdriver to push the plastic lever back, reactivating the forward function.

I could see this being caused by running too much paper in reverse mode, which I recently did.
