Unplug line from back of printer
Set the Incoming mode to autoswitching
set DRPD to Off so that it will recognize all incoming calls
** if possible call your telephone company and set a distinctive ring pattern for phone calls
replug cable on line port at the back of printer
then ask someone to send you a fax...

First step make sure you reboot after installation. If this does not correct the error then try disconnecting from computer and then reconnecting after about a minute. If this does not correct the problem then try unplugging the printer for about 30 mins and then reconnecting. This should wipe any stored info and allow you to start fresh. Also make sure this printer is set as the default printer. Hope this helps.

fax element of the Printer contains a memory feature for storing
faxes in the event of a printing problem. This feature is useful for
protecting yourself against missing faxes if your printer runs out of
paper. In order to retrieve missed faxes, the feature must be
switched on when the faxes arrive. You can reprint faxes stored in
the device's memory from the main control panel. You should allow
approximately 5 minutes for this task, or longer if many faxes are
stored in the memory.
Load paper in the input tray.
the "Setup" button on the front of the printer.
"Tools," then "Reprint Faxes From Memory."
"Cancel" to stop printing. Faxes are printed in reverse
order; the most recent fax is the last to print.
