i had the same problem and the Philips hekp site was no use. I turned my iron off until it was completely cooled down then switched it back on again, with the steam number turned to 5 and the heat on max. as soon as the ready light went off, i put my iron in the horizontal position and shook it back and forth (quite vigorously) and it seemed to have dont the trick!

fill your iron with water, put the steam button to the 0 postion, plug your iron in and allow to get hot with the iron set to full heat.
Then unplug your iron hold it over the sink and at the same time hold down the calc button, repeat process until no more limescale come out of your iron, wipe plate with a damp cloth, then iron as normal,
(dont worry about the iron spitting and making a lot of noise during the calcing this is normal)
