Build up of .tmp files in my windows tmp

follow these steps and you will be so glad you did.
1. Press the Windows Key and the Pause/Break Key to get into system properties. Go to the system restore tab and disable system restore on all your drives.
2. Go to Download.com and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware....just to quick scan and be prepared to gape at the complete failure of symantec...
3. Once all that is cleared from your system go to download.com and install Advanced System Care Free. Run that and get rid of all the buildup. This should clean you up really nicely.
4. Abandon ship on symantec...save yourself the money and either go free with Avast which I've had amazing success with...despite my huge distrust of antivirus in general..(I tend to just save myself the headaches and CPU power)

Best of luck with that and remember that temp files are ultimately normal and should delete upon restarts...normally...oh..and after all this you can re-enable your system restore.

I am of the mind to do a complete reinstall of the operating system including flash the BIOS even if it is the same version. I worked many hours tracking down and thinking you found every part of the problem on to hit an .EXE and it all starts over again....I just clean out everything and start fresh.
If you tell us what make and model of computer along with the operating system it is we can direct you to the drivers for the reinstall. Some off those programs - for example AOL seem to be virus magnets. (if it is a dell it is really simple if you just put in your service code- it give you your particular driver of your computer.)
That is what I would do...Or you can keep hunting.

: C:progra~1\mywebs~1\bar\4.bin\m3plugin.dll

This is due to a missing file for a program called "MyWebSearch" which is regarded as an ethical, but annoying, piece of software.

I suggest you uninstall it, via instructions below and also utilize a maintenance utility, called CCleaner, listed as the second link.

Removal instructions:

Maintenance Utility:

If this information has been helpful, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you.

M3Plugin.DLL

Hi Bry, this is so common with, my web search program.
Try this. Right click once on the start button, (A pop-up window will open), slide up to Explorer & left click on it once. Right click once on the C:\ drive & left click Search from the list.
In the search top window type the name of the file: m3plugin.dll
Click search.
Windows will find the file. Right click once on the file m3plugin.dll listed in the right hand side of the search window & left click Copy from the list. Windows Explorer is still opened. Scroll down to the folder, Program Files & left click the plus sign next to it. Program Files will open & you'll see all kinds of folders.
Find the Mywebsearch folder & open it. Find the folder 1.bin, Right click once on that folder & left click past from the list.
Close all opened windows & restart the system.

Enjoy Bry!

I am running XP. I went to RUN - MSCONFIG, then go to START tab. You will find an entry for this DLL. Uncheck to box, choose APPLY, and restart your PC, the nagging pop up on restart should be gone.
