Question about Westinghouse 26" LCD Flat-Panel HDTV

Open Question

Mode Not Supported with HDMI

I get a perpetual "detecting" message and sometimes a "Mode Not Supported" message when I try to connect my Windows 7 laptop to my Westinghouse W2613 26" TV. Westinghouse Technical Support said that I should be able to connect as long as resolution is "768". Has anyone successfully connected PC to TV through HDMI on this TV model?

SOURCE: TV won't recognize signal from a DVI to HDMI input adapter

I had a similar problem with a Mac Mini.  The problem was caused by a mix-matched resolution (the Mac tries to use 75Hz refresh rate, TV expects 60Hz).  The best solution I found was to remote into the Mac (I used LogMeIn.com) and change the resolution on the Mac from a remote computer until the image appears on screen.
Process: 1) Connect Mac to a normal monitor and install the LogMeIn server (or other VNC type application) 2) Connect the Mac to the TV 3) Connect to LogMeIn from another computer (preferrably one where you can see the TV) 4) Go to Applications / System Preferences / Display 5) Change the resolution to your TVs native resolution, and change the refresh rate to 60Hz

SOURCE: No Signal report by TV when connected to PC

Try changing resolution and refresh rates.  I have seen the same thing on Macs, and found that the TVs expect a 60Hz refresh rate and at least the Mac likes to use a 75Hz refresh rate.  When the two mismatched the TV would not accept a signal.  The easiest way to make the change is to use some sort of remote desktop login like LogMeIn.com or GoToMyPC.com.

I recently bought a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S370. The issue I have is that it will not play any DVD's on my Samsung HD TV The message "Mode not supported keeps coming up" Thanks

When you see "Mode Not Supported," hold down the "stop" button on the Bluray player for about 15 seconds and release it. This should reset the player to the lowest resolution over HDMI.

Check other Bluray player settings such as deep color, resolution etc. for conflicts.

I can't get a signal between my Sony Blu-Ray Disc/DVD Player and Samsung HDTV monitor. They are connected via a HDMI cable. A brief message on the HDTV reads "Not supported".

First, try to reset resolution of HDMI Sony BD output.
Unplug HDMI cable from TV and change to Component connection to reset BD output resolution.
Than after you entered to resolution menu, choose to standart resolution 720 or 480 i.
If above methode working, try to reconect HDMI cable again to HD TV.
If any problem with picture or still "Not Supported" messege appear, i suggest to change HDMI cable first.
i hope its work.

A message is on my screen that says, "Video 5 HDMI is not supported

Whatever you have plugged into HDMI 5 is set to a resolution that exceeds the TVs ability to display. Try setting the source to 720p or 420p

I have a Bose 3.2.1. GSX Series 3 system. Recently, when playing DVD's I am getting sound only and a message on the TV screen saying 'No Signal' and on the 3.2.1. display 'communicating with your TV'....

Possible faulty lead or a poor connection. Has the new Sky Box been fitted to the HDMI socket the Bose had? Try switching sockets if there is more than one HDMI socket.

Problem connecting my ps3 to my samsung le23r71bx tv using an hdmi lead. I get an error message "mode can not be supported"

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).
