Frequently this is a driver or firmware issue. First try to update your device driver. Open the Device Manager. (Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds (or System and Security) > Device Manger, in Windows 7. The route is similar for Vista and XP. ) Locate your CD drive in the list under DVD/CD-ROM. Right click on the drive and click Update driver. (You may need to uninstall the current driver first and restart the computer; this is in the same list.) This will find the current Windows driver. For firmware, check what drive was actually included in your G430 and find the manufacturer. You can also check for drivers or firmware at the Lenovo support site. (For 32-bit versions of Windows OS, you can use SIW to detail your hardware. It's available here: www.gtopala.com/ . )

Next check the autorun details for your optical drive. Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound .Select AutoPlay and select the defaults. (Note: for security reasons, you may not want to change the settings for software.) If you are really confident, you can change the Autorun settings in the registry. Back up your registry (Export > All) first. I do not recommend changing the registry.

The final solution is to get new optical drive (read/write). USB optical drives are available, if you do not want to try to replace the internal drive. Make sure that your laptop is running on AC power (not the battery only) for burning.

I hope this helps.

What is Power2Go and do I need it

That depends. What OS are you running? What type of files will you burn to disc (and what capacity disc)?

The program lets you burn various files to CD, DVD or BD. If you only plan on burning data files, you may not need it. If you burn ISO to create bootable CDs or DVDs, you might find it useful if you have XP. Windows 7 and 8 include a feature to correctly burn ISOs. (I don't remember if that feature is included in Vista.)
If you want to copy optical discs to burn backup copies, this software will also handle that. The Windows built-in software doesn't copy discs with DRM.

If you are compiling your own audio and video and then burning the resultant file to disc, the software is partially useful. (Another program has to do the compiling.)
There are other programs that do the same tasks as Power2Go. Roxio Creator (includes the video editing and playback software in addition to the burning unit) and Nero Burning ROM are commonly advertised options. A review of Power2Go with links to reviews of similar products is here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407197,00.asp .
I hope this helps. If you need additional information, please add a comment with your OS and file burning plans.

(I burn more ISOs and data files. Thus I use the Windows built-in software most of the time.)

the disk may be playing correctly, but that does not matter. but i want you to know that the disc is not 100% good, you can try another disc and see that is going to copy successfully.

Dvd writing failing.

Your machine has more than enough specs to to the job

DVD's speeds are preset by the dvd itself under normal circumstances so trying to change speed may well cause it to fail.

If your dvd says 16x then the burning program will sense that and adjust accordingly.
If you try to burn faster the speed listed on your dvd then it is almost certain to fail.

Nero has tools that help to set it up for the drive that it is going to burn with nero speed and the info tool that usually ships with nero will run diagnostics on the drive and save these setting to use with the burning side of the programs.

I would suggest you re-set anything you might have changed in nero then run the tools and try again.

If you still have any issues post any further information back to this post so that we can assist you easier.

Not able to write dvd on my lenovo3000Y500 laptop

A power calibration error is caused by the inability of a DVD-RW drive to use a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk, it first writes a bit of a data on the DVD then uses it to calibrate itself for the position of the lines. This however can be caused by a number of reasons, so try the following options one after the other, If option 1 does not work, go to option 2, etc.

1:) Matshita has problems with some cheaper brands, get yourself a very known brand DVD as a test like pioneer or tdk

2:) Using a higher speed than the media is meant for, try lowering your burning speed in nero, try the lowest even, let's see if helps

3:) You have a Lenovo as you say. If it comes with Sonic, please uninstall Sonic first, then uninstall nero, then install nero again. Sonic and nero tend to conflict. But even if you do not have Sonic, reinstall nero and apply all new patches.

4:) If option 3 did not help, update the firmware, that helps in a lot of cases.

5:) If even option 4 did not help, disable IMAPI Service (Work's in most cases):
- Launch Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services .
- Browse for "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service", Right-click on it - and select properties.
- Change Startup Type to Disabled.
- Click Apply and Reboot.

6:) The burner lense needs cleaning, please don't attempt this at home if you are not a mechanic, take it to service they will clean it.

7:) Drive failure, or drive burning out -- then it needs to be replaced, if none of the above helped that is.

If you overlock your computer that can also cause this problem but since you use a laptop I assume you did not overclock it. Let me know if any of the above helped and what the results were.:)
