Hi brengaynor,

When you say CD will not open are you talking about the CD drive tray not opening at all (i.e. you're not able to insert any CDs into the PC) or the program/game CD that you inserted into the computer is not installing or playing?

If the problem is the latter one then I suggest that you try other program/game CDs to see if you're able to play or install those CDs. If they work while this one CD you're trying to install doesn't then maybe you're clicking on the wrong setup file or otherwise there is another procedure to install the program/game into the computer. Consult the manual of the program or the game manual for proper instructions on installing the game. The password can also be on the CD case or manual itself so check it out. Otherwise, visit there website or call up the manufacturer of the game or program you're trying to install/use for further help.

But if your problem is the first one, then to troubleshoot this you have to check if the drive is even getting power when you turn on the computer (blinking light/flashing light), if not then you may need to open up your computer chassis and check the connections of your CD drive for desktops now for laptops you may need to just unscrew the drive from the system and take the whole thing out. Reseat the cables at the back of the drive and even swap power connectors with the hard drive then try again for desktop systems now for laptops you just need to check the drive for any damage and just firmly put it back in place in the drive bay and screw it in place. Power on and try the eject button, to see if it works. If that still doesn't work, and the drive is still not getting any power, then you may have to replace the CD drive itself.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)

Can't Install My JEWEL QUEST game .. need an

I am having this same problem, my mom bought it and asked me to install it. I now have it being installed. After the CD has been loaded, that notepad info will pop up. But thats because the AutoPlay is not working for some reason. Instead open up the CD in My Computer. Open the game folder and there will be a ".exe" setup file. Double Click that and it will begin installing the game. At least that worked for me so hopefully it does for you too! Good Luck!!

try the ease of access function, usually there is an option to reset your password, and depending on the laptop, when you enter your password incorrectly, there is usually a password hint right under the password entry box, if you utilized the security question answer

How can I install the Microsoft Office 2007? I want to install the Microsoft Office 2007 in my PC. But I don't know the procedure.

1. Put the MS Office install CD in your computer's CD drive.
2. Open "My Computer"
3. Open your CD drive (which will be most likely "D" or "E"
4. Look for a file named "SETUP" or SETUP.EXE
5. Double click that file
6. Punch in the info it asks you
It will then install - should be very easy and simple from there.

Can get on internet! all my programs end in .ink so can't opened anything. when try to download from internet i can but the it comes up windows don't know this extention. then i can't opened. thanks

When double clicking the xp_exe_fix.reg file, windows asks what to use to open it. Go to select from list, then browse and find C:\Windows\regedit.exe, select it and click ok, then double click xp_exe_fix.reg again and it'll ask you if you want to add the info to the registry. Click yes and reboot your computer. You should notice that by going Start->my computer->C:\ and opening any one of the folders, all of the programs appear normal again and will function correctly. If your desktop icons still have the *.lnk extension, run the linkfile_fix.reg by double clicking it, then reboot again. make sure everything seems back to normal and your all done!

the specific locations for the files:
xp.exe.fix
linkfile.fix

Note: if winzip/winrar or whatever isn't working on your machine, either extract the files on another computer or associate the zip files with the appropriate program exe (winzip/winrar) as done for the xp_exe_fix.reg file.

Autorun will not work with the Wrath of the Lich KIng. It just asks me what program I want to use to open the the files. What should I do?

Try looking for an executable file on the CD itself. To do this click on my computer - Than right click on the disk drive the game is inserted into. Scroll down to explore on the right click menu, Once this screen is opened look for something that might say setup.exe or have a picture of the wow logo with an exe. attached on the end. After double clicking on that you should be good to go.

Cant open the install.exe file on the software cd

adobe is generally only for files that end in ".pdf" for a ".exe" file you really should always be able to just double click it with your left mouse button.

and yes, install.exe is the correct file to get things going if they don't start automatically.

Opening of drives

I have seen this several times and it is brought about due to a virus that creates an autorun file (autorun.ini).

In this file when you double click the drive, executes the file and in the autorun file exists any of the following: -
Microsoftpowerpoint.exe
smss.exe
.... or many others.

It is good thing that you have a strong antivirus which seems to have removed the viruses and therefore when the information file is opened, it does not find the executables it was supposed to run. That is why it asks for a program to open.

You can prove this by right clicking on the drive to see a shortcut menu and in this menu, the bolded menu will be the action taken when double clicked and the possibility is that you will find Autorun bolded.

To resolve the issue do the following:
1) Open My computer program or windows explorer.
2) Right click on the drive and open or explore it.
3) Locate the file Autorun and delete it. If the file is not shown, from the folder options choose show all files. This is because sometimes this file may be hidden.

Try double clicking the drives again to see if you get he same error.

NOTE: Many virus developers have made possible for people to install/run viruses in there own computers by simply double clicking the drives like flash disk.

Have got a printer HP Destjet F 2100series F4100series cannot get the disk to work it is a new one the book tells me to click my computer double-click the cd-rom icon but i cannot find this can you help...

Left click "START" button
Left click "My Computer"
Double left click the CDROM icon (Picture of a CD)
This will open your CDROM disk, look for setup.exe and double left click it.
If you can't find a setup.exe, look for the autorun file double left click it and in that file should be the startup file and location.
