I cant adjust volume or turn my TV off with the remote. I can change channels. Any thoughts of what is wrong. I was thinking the IR eye went out but then how can I change channels

I have verified that the remote works - I think it is the IR eye on the TV. Is anyone aware of where or how to get an external IR eye?

Either there is a crack or other "short" in the circuit board of the remote or something has spilled on it and is preventing contact at those points (that do not work, such as volume and power).

If you're somewhat handy, start by removing battery cover and batteries. If there is a screw (or screws) visible, remove them. Next, very carefully insert a wide, thin screwdriver or other such instrument anywhere in the seam that runs around the sides of the remote and give your screwdriver/what-have-you a wiggle/twist. I would suggest starting near the buttons that DO work. BE CAREFUL as the plastic is relatively soft and can be easily gouged/broken.

Continue around the remove until it splits into two pieces (top and bottom). Check for obvious damage to the circuit board as well as obvious signs of dirt or other debris on top of the board where the rubber piece that contains the buttons would touch it. Use rubbing alcohol to clean both the top of the circuit board and the bottom of the rubber button pad. Snap it back together and insert the batteries.

This works about 75% of the time in correcting an issue such as you describe. Otherwise, it might be time for a replacement -- suggest a "universal" remote from big box store for $20 or even less.

SOURCE: No remote (LG or otherwise) works

The remote receiver in the TV set, or its associated circuits inside the TV are not working. This would be fully proven by trying another known working remote on the TV set.

You won't be able to see the light from remote's LED (Light Emitting Diode) because it is IR (Infra Red) which is invisible to the human eye.

Try re-entering the code for your tv to see if it works.

If that doesn't work, the remote might have just died. It happens.

Get yourself a new UNIVERSAL REMOTE for less than $20 and just program it for your tv.

Good luck and post back to let us know how it works out.

I cant turn my sharp aquos 32" on or off with the remote. I also cant mute it or adjust the volume.

Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera’s Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera’s screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

it is likely that your tv is interpreting a random button on your remote as a signal sent for it to change inputs, next time this happens turn the tv off and back on and note what comes up on the screen, for example video 1,

TV is under warranty. Get a tech to look at it. It could require a new IR sensor, a firmware upgrade or a system reset that only a tech can do called an Industry Initialization that is in the service mode only

Everything slowly went wrong

Most likely you have a locked up micro on the main board. You would need to have the main board replaced. If the set is not under warranty your cost to repair would exceed your cost to replace.
