Why is my built-in webcam not working when im using my skype?

Try using your webcam this way.
Use a IM application like Yahoo messenger,NetMeeting,Skype,etc.
They will have video capabilities that will work with your webcam and allow you to view other webcams.

Can you elaborate on your question? Like what computer are you using and what application you want to use your cam with?........there are an example you can try it.
use web cam for DELL laptop-
Many IM clients allow Webcam support, such as AIM, Y! IM, Windows Live Messenger, and Skype. However, I'd recommend either AIM or Skype since Windows Live and Y! IM are pretty bad (slowed down my Dell; freezes/crashes on start). Plus, you can also use Skype as a phone on your computer. The only downside is that you have to pay a subscription for voicemail ($10/mo.) and it isn't available in all areas.

However, the choice is yours. Make sure you have all your drivers installed (if you can't get the built-in webcam to work, look for a driver on the internet) and test it. It can get really laggy on slow connections and it eats up bandwidth, so watch it. I hope that helps.

Hi. You need to configure your webcam with your chat client like Yahoo Messenger or Skype.

Go to Options or Preference and configure your chat client to use your Dell Built-in Webcam.

Webcams are either started by their specific programs or they are used by the IMs that you use. To use with the IM you must configure the IM (Skype, Yahoo Messenger, MSN or whatever you have) from their respective Tools->Options->Video to use this webcam as the default camera. Also in the Audio option you must use the built in mic of this laptop as the default mic.
Once you have done this then everytime you use the IM for video talk or just talk then the webcam and mic or just the mic will be used automatically.
While if you use the specific program to use the webcam then the webcam and mic will be used without any configuration. However, you must configure things like mirroring and colors etc so that when you move to the left the video should show you moving left and not otherwise.

Make sure you have installed your webcam drivers, here is the link for dell drivers you need LINK (DELL WEBCAM MANAGER) .

Once your done with the dirvers, use any IM messenger like, Yahoo, MSN SKYPE. You can directly start using the webcam through these IM's

The built in webcam is always on. You just have to run the application, 1) that was pre installed on it to take videos using it. and 2) while using an IM like Skype or Yahoo Chat etc. But they have to be configured to use it when you start a talk session with the other party. In Skype go to Tools->Options->Video. Here you can configure your webcam to startup when you are talking on Skype. And start video talk.

First, you will need to check if the Webcam driver and software is installed.
if yes: then you can use the installed software to display the webcam locally or use an IM software like MSN or Skype... to share your webcam with your friends.
if no: you will need to visit packard bell website and based on your model you will find the webcam drivers and software to install. i would give you the direct link to download it but you didn't specify your Laptop model :(

Hi you can access your webcam if it is built-in the laptop by going to Start>Control Panel>Scanner and Camers... you will see the device listed in there. Just double click to see it working. Alternatively if you have IM software like Skype, MSN, Yahoo it will allow you to access you Webcam under their particular settings.

sir my all softwares r installed properly & im using vista stater. my web cam is not able 2 b detected
