Question about Garmin eTrex Legend GPS Receiver

Unit locks out fine blue line appears have to remove batt and then turns on

The unit turns off and ablue fine line appears and locks unit fromm doing anything so i must remove batteries and then turn unit on and after 5 min the same fine blue line appers and have to remove batteries

    I have the same problem. I am trying to update the software to see if this fixes it, but don't have a serial port on my laptop. I am running ver 3.7.

    I have the same issue, I can remove the battery to reset, the unit will work for 3-4 minutes, then the unit hangs again.

    I have the same problem. I haven't used the the GPS since Sept. 08.. it worked fine ten. Now Nov 2, 2008 I encountered the same problem (unit locks up and dispalys a fine vertical line on screen) twice within 5 minutes while navigating to a waypoint. Replaced the batteries and the problem was back within 5 minutes while navigating.

    I'd been using my ETrex Legend GPS for more than a year without any problems, and just as you all have described, it locks up where you have to remove the batteries to reset it, and it locks up again within 4-5 minutes or so. I don't know why we would all experience this problem within a couple of weeks of eachother unless it is a software problem. I have a usb to serial adapter, but it's been lost in my move here, so I'm going to have to search for it to see if a software update will fix the problem. It's annoying to say the least especially when I'm geocaching or out on a hike and it blinks out several times like that.

Disable the WAAS on your unit. A new satellite was launched earlier this year and is causing a problem. This is why Garmin issued a new software update version 3.9.
Menu > Setup > System... scroll down to WAAS and disable it. This should get your unit working again but with less accuracy.

Update the software to version 3.9 and leave for about 20 minutes in open area (clear view of sky) so your unit can download the full almanac. This should permanently fix your problem. Once you finish upgrading, go back and enable the WAAS.

to mhotz: You can purchase serial2USB connectors at a computer store. You will have to install the drivers which come with it before it will work. That should solve your upgrade problem.

The remote is not functioning properly. Most probably timer related issue. Getting switched off after a couple of minutes and a red icon is blinking on the AC. Unable to cancel the timer.

You can try to remove the batteries, wait 5-10 mins and reinstall. That should reset the remote. You can turn off power to the unit at the breaker or disconnect, wait 5 mins, then turn power on. That should reset the unit.

Beeping alarm goes off when I reach 135 BPM. Is there a way to reset or even turn off? Omron HJ-113.Cannot find anything in the instruction manual.

Try turning the unit OFF, remove the batteries and wait 5 minutes. Reinstall the batteries and the unit should revert back to the original factory settings. If that doesn't solve the problem. contact OMRON at their Customer Support toll free number, that appears in your Owner's Manual.

Hi, Try this steps

1.Remove your cmos battery for 3 mins. and put it back
2.Turn on your system, if this doesn't work Turn it off again
3. Replace your Memory with a new one, then turn on your system
4.If this doens't do the job, switched you pci-e video card to integrated video card, then switch on.
5. If all of this doens't do anything, e-mail me the of spec of your board

Uniden phone saying "check tel line" and is not registering. have t-mobile hotspot at home service and router is fine.

check the line wire if it connected well otherwise try to reset ur phone by removing the battery for 5 min. and install it back again and turn it on

Truck won't do anything!

I would say it is entirely possible that the lock cylinder is not turning far enough to engage the solenoid circuit. Common problem. My 92 C1500 and 94 K1500 have both done the same thing. Replacement is a breeze if you have the tools (steering wheel puller, lock plate remover and torx bits for removing the lock cylinder retaining bolt) 1. Remove steering wheel. 2. Remove lock plate (held on with spring clip).3.Remove screw that holds turn signal linkage and remove linkage 4. Remove screw in 4 way flasher knob and remove. 5. Remove 3 screws that hold down turn signal switch and gently pull switch out of housing about 2 inches. 6. Remove little white plastic switch that is in the way of the torx head bolt that holds the lock cylinder in. 7 Remove torx bolt and pull lock cyinder out of column. Reverse operation to reassemble. Good luck. Part is less that $20 at any parts store.

Theft alarm sounds w/o provocation

This sometimes can also be related to the internal batteries in the alarm ECU or alarm siren module going bad. If your handy the internal batteries can be replaced without buying a new replacement unit. Otherwise, the entire module must be replaced ($$$). Lastly, you can have a Saab indy or dealer disarm the theft alarm on the vehicle. You retain your keyless operation, but the alarm is not active. This is done in the programming and adjustment menus in the TWICE unit with the Saab Tech 2 computer.

I have exactly the same problem, my unit has been sent to the service centre 3 times already and they still haven't fixed it. It appears to be a main board issue. I will send it back again for servicing and will NOT take it back unless the main board is replaced.

Won't stay turned on

Since mine was only a day or two old, I took it back to the store and got it replaced. Since then, it's been fine. Hope you have the same option.
