When using windows dvd maker with vista, the project starts to burn then at 98.9% I get an error message that says "The DVD could not be burned because an orror occurred. Try using another blank disc and make sure that your DVD burner is connected and working properly Learn move about this problem." I have tried using blank DVD+R and DVD-R to no avail.

Two things. Firsly make sure that you are using the correct disks i.e if your drive is dvd-r then only use dvd-r disks, if its dvd+r then only use dvd+r disks if it is a multi drive then it won't matter what disks you use. Secondly don't format the disk first. If it asks you to format the disk click on the X to shut the pop up box. Only put the disk in when dvd maker asks for you to insert a disk.

I am trying to copy Windows 7 SP1 either as the simple service pack or Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 but for both files I receive the same Toshiba Disc Creator error message 310981-34-00000000. I have...

That will only work with the Toshiba Disk Creator software and if anyone has made those already it won't work at all. Those are both copy protested files that use a special format to keep people from making copies of them. The back up files stored on the hard drive for restore purposes only work with the disk creator software that comes with Toshiba computers and that software has a hard coded counter that won't let you make more than 1 copy. If your using the correct software and still have the problem it maybe the DVD's your using. Make sure you have DVD's that are a compatible format with your DVD writer function. You may need the DVD -R instead of the +R dvd's you indicated you are using.

Is there a way I can finalize a DVD-RW so I can show films burned onto the DVD-RW?

Hi,

You have not pointed out what type of program are you using for DVD authoring. The option to finalize the disc is usually provided when you start burning.

I have an alternate solution for you which is easier. You can use the Windows DVD maker available in Vista Home Premium. This way you will not have to manually finalize the disc; it will take care of it itself.

Remember to install codecs such as k-lite basic coded pack for trouble free work with different formats. Then run DVD maker from the start menu. A tutorial can be accessed here.

Note that DVDs created by DVD maker can be played on most DVD players and on computer as well.

Cannot burn AVCHD disk. Get this error

The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different
from what the software claims. I'm happy. Thanks

HELP I made a movie using Windows (Vista) Movie Maker, was able to burn it to a CD-R and it appears to have burned to a DVD-R but it won't play on my DVD - message says: Playback feature not available

Well it looks like you saved it in the wrong format and belave me I done this as well save it as a MPG or AVI and not WMA or WMV your going to need another disc to burn but we all learn from little mistakes I pray it works for you if not you may need to use like NERO instead or ROXIO is good too good luck to you..

Windows dvd maker , vista home premium o/s, hp pavillion laptop

I found the biggest problem with using win dvd maker is when windows asks you to format the disk first. If you do format the disk first then win dvd maker has problems writing to it. Only put the disk in the drive when win dvd maker asks you to other wise you will be taken through to format the disk first and if you choose to cancel that it causes silly problems. If you are trying to make more than one copy of the same disk and win dvd maker is acting up, just do the one copy and then close the program. Then use a program such as nero and make copies from within there. You can insert the disk open Nero and select copy disk, you can do this until you have all of the copies that you need. Personally I found that win dvd maker is too slow and laborious.
