It could be due to the cartridges or the encoder strip (transparent strip seated behind the cartridge carrier) has gotten loose from its position. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

  1. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center for the loading position.
  2. Check the encoder strip and make sure it is secured in its place.
  3. Close the printer cover.
  4. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply (black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer) and put it back after 30 seconds.
  5. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  6. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  7. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
  8. If no error appears, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.


Problem: Carrier not moving to the loading position

If you're having trouble with the cartridge carrier not moving automatically to its loading position (to install/replace cartridges) even when the printer is on and the cover is open, please follow the steps below:

  1. Unplug the printer from the power source.
  2. With the printer cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the carrier to the center of the printer.
  3. Open the latch and remove the used cartridges.
  4. Load the new cartridges. Close the latch and then the printer cover.
  5. Re-plug the printer to the power source.
  6. After going through the startup process, try to print a document to verify that the cartridges are working and installed properly.

more than likely it is the fuser section the gear sometimes breaks and causes the knocking sound.

Knocking noise

The only thing that moves inside the PC that can knock with those effects is the hard drive. The knocking sound is the heads constantly re-parking and trying to synchronize to the platters. That is a sound you don't want to hear. I would IMMEDIATELY copy off ANYTHING that you don't want to lose forever from that disk, because death is imminent.

go to an autozone and if they do not have it go to napa and check on a price for a knock sensor and you can also try to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you

Knocking noise

sounds like the developper
it may start to stiffen up.
remove the developper (toner cartridge and try turning the gears by hand, if it's practically impossible to do) replace.

Knocking sounds

Ususally knocking is a sign that the rubber belt which spins the dryer tub is old and has hardened. If the knocking sound gets quieter after you have run the dryer for 30 minutes or so, then the belt is the problem. As the dryer turns, it heats up the rubber belt and makes the belt more pliable. This quiets the knock. I have seen dryers work fine for years, knocking the whole time. Have the belt replaced if the sound bothers you.
