SOURCE: Downloading skype onto my acer aspire one netbook

For aspire one you need to download the Fedora 7 package from the Skype Website.

Afterwards, just do what your aspire asks you to do. When everything is installed, just press alt+F2, type in "skype", en press "Run". Skype will start up. That's it

SOURCE: Hi, my acer aspire one

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition containing the files required for restoration to the original factory condition. The restoration clears all user data from the C: drive and requires that you have the netbook plugged into its AC adapter as the process takes significant time during which it should not be interrupted at the risk of hard disk corruption. To begun the process....
1. power on the netbook while it is plugged into its AC adapter
2. during power-on, while the Acer Logo is showing, press Alt and F10 together several times
3. Acer eRecovery loads showing the Windows screen momentarily
4. follow the on-screen directions and make the selection to recover the factory default image

System recovery boot

The Acer Aspire line of netbooks have two methods to restore the computer to a working state: System Restore, an application included with Windows, or Acer eRecovery Management, a proprietary application that is packaged with Acer PCs.

If errors appear when running Windows, or if the computer begins to behave strangely, first run System Restore to determine whether reverting the PC to a previous state fixes the problem.
If the problem remains unresolved, or worsens, you can use Acer eRecovery Management to format the hard drive and reload the Acer Aspire netbook to its factory state.

Navigate to the "Start" menu. Select the "Control Panel."
Type "restore" into the Search box.
Press "Enter" then select "Restore Your Computer to an Earlier Time" from below the "Action Center."
Click "Open System Restore."
Click "Next" on the "Restore System Files and Settings" screen.

Select a restore point that was created when the computer was functioning properly. Click "Next," then click "Finish."
Click "Yes" to confirm.
Windows will perform a system recovery on the Acer Aspire One.

Acer eRecovery Management

Turn on the Acer netbook. Hold down the "Alt" and "F10" buttons simultaneously on the boot screen to load Acer eRecovery Management from the recovery partition.

Select "Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults" from the options.

Click "Next" to recover the system to its original state.

ACER ASPIRE ONE Netbook, black screen recovery

if you have got a black screen and it wont boot up.
use the recovery cd that comes with the netbook ,
put it in any pc that has got a cd or dvd drive,
and run the software , it will give you a choice of making a recovery usb
stick, you will need a usb stick with a minimum 2GB memory,
the program will take about 20 minutes to create the recovery usb stick,
when finished put it into any one of the usb ports on the netbook
and turn it on, again it will take about 20 minutes for the netbook recovery.
wrote this mainly for people that do not have an external cd / dvd drive that
they can use .

My acer netbook stuck on the windows xp screen but wont start beyond that? Had turned it off and on then got to screen: your safe mode options, or start windows normally.....yet it has not.

You most likely will have to repair windows.

If you can, connect an external CD ROM drive to you Aspire One (I'm assuming that the Aspire One dose not have a CD Drive) and boot of the Windows XP CD. Go through the options as if you were re-installing XP and then when it detects the current installation choose the repair option. THis should fix the boot up issue.

Also you can try the "System recovery" Option. You will need to go through the owner's manual to find out how, but usually you boot up the laptop and tap the "F10" or "Alt + F10" key(s) and it will take you into the system recovery options. This will wipe out all the information that was on the disk before so use as a last resort.

My acer aspire ones screen is just staying black and wont reboot what do i do ?

I have the same problem! I received a response to my email telling me to disconnect adapter and battery, hold the power button 30 minutes, connect ac (make sure it's plugged), turn on, wait 1-7 minutes, then attach battery after windows boots. After several tries, it still hasn't worked. When I turn on the system, my power led stays green, but the hdd indicator is not lit. My battery can still recharge, but the screen is still black, and there is no sound.

Just purchased acer aspire one 150-1786 netbook

You say you just purchased it, It must be under warranty, take it back. If its not under warranty it could be a number of things. removing and replacing the ram is the easiest thing to do. Does anything show up on the screen when you turn it on?

When i turn on laptop screen oes blank but can see curser

Do you see the acer splash screen before you get the black screen with the curser? If so it is more than likely a windows problem. Boot from your XP disk and select R when prompted to repair. Once in the repair console type the following:

chkdsk /r

When it is finished (will take about an hour) then type exit to restart the computer.

Hope this helps

My acer one netbook won't boot

This is a common problem with the Acer Aspire one. Apparently, the BIOS needs to be flashed using a flash disk with the required files.

Unfortunately, the files are not available at any website but you can take the Aspire one to any Acer service center and they should be able to flash the BIOS for you free of cost.
