Lens cap error on camcorder

i have a jvc camcorder model GR-SXM250US, has always worked great until recently says "remove lens cap" and it is removed..any suggestions? older camera but worked great..

That message is displayed when the camera senses no light. You may have a stuck iris on the camera. A good tech can pull the stuck iris and freee it up, but it's very easy to damage the camera, so I wouldn't recommend a consumer trying to do it.
