Hi am trying to find the root file on the above model. but cant find it anywhere. need to update as not recognising all my files please can anyone help!?

You may need to recode the video files on your main computer into a recognised format. This is mainly due to the CPU on the media processor being fairly slow.

This sounds as though the Iomega has got locked somehow.
Do a get info on its desktop icon and have a look at the lock checkbox. Also look at the write permissions while you are there.

I'm having a similar problem with the same Akasa integral enclosure, so far I have tried 3 different hard disks and not one of them will work properly and on two different computers.. , all of the hard disks I've tried are Samsung .. but I'm sure that makes no difference. I plan to send back the enclosure to where I bought it from and get a different one from a different manufacturer.

No, the drive was corrupted by the Mac on which it was plugged in. You have a slim chance of recovery - you must try something like
