Hi,

The Polaroid PDC 640 CF together with its software "Photomax Image Maker" to my knowledge was originally intended for the Window 95/98 compatibility hence when outright installed to an XP, it will not be readily allowed.

One solution is to install first Windows 98, install the "Photomax Image Maker" and upgrade to XP as mdsaeed67 has proposed.

Alternately, you can use any other program that acquires images from a Twain compatible device such as Photoshop or ACDSee or any other. The trick is to instal the Twain drivers of the PDC 640 CF.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    If for some reason you would still want to use the "Photomax Image Maker", then you can force XP to accept by:

    • Do not insert the PhotoMAX CD into the CD drive until instructed;

    • Start the Wizard by clicking the Start button and choosing All Programs > Accessories > Program Compatibility Wizard;

    • Follow the on-screen prompts;

    • Select I want to use the program in the CD-ROM Drive;

    • Insert the PhotoMAX software CD-ROM into the CD drive;

    • Click Next;

    • Select Microsoft Windows 98/Windows Me and click Next;

    • Uncheck the following items: 256 colors 640 X 480 Screen Resolution Disable Visual Themes;

    • Follow the on-screen prompts;

    • The PhotoMAX software will begin installing;

    • Follow on-screen prompts to finish the installation;

    • Close the Compatibility Wizard when the software installation is complete.
    NOTES Limited testing of the Program Compatibility Wizard has shown that the PhotoMAX application is functional within Windows XP -- however, some special PhotoMAX features (Screensaver, Sticker Store Deluxe) may not work properly. If PhotoMAX will not run after using the Program Compatibility Wizard, there may be a conflict with the computer's hardware system. Polaroid's Digital Camera Serial Troubleshooting Guide offers complete overview of serial port conflicts and gives detailed instructions for diagnosing and correcting these errors.

Want to download pictures from pdc700 polaroid camera

Try to download the required software from Polaroid. Every computer needs software (and a driver) so it can transfer the pictures from a camera to the computer. The software always comes with the camera. but if you don't know where the CD is, try the firm of your brand.
If that won't work (some brands no longer exists and some on't support that long) you always could try some free software like from Ulead, Pixir, BeFunkey, Gimp, Photoshop express. Or if your camera does have a memory card, buy a external card reader and use that to transfer the pictures and videos to your computer.

Using other Camera software with a Poloroid 640 Fun Flash

I have three different digital cameras. I use the scanner and camera wizard to download my pics.
The second option, if you use SD card with your camera, then you can get a USB 2.0 SD Memory Card Reader/Writer.

Windows NT4 and Windows 2000

Windows 2000 A new camera TWAIN driver (version 0.1) compatible with Windows 2000 is now available for download. The new TWAIN driver will allow photo transfer using most image viewing or editing programs that are TWAIN compatible. NOTE: In order for the version 0.1 driver to work correctly, the PhotoMAX software must also be compatible with Windows 2000. The PhotoMAX SE software originally included with the Fun! Flash 640 is not compatible with Windows 2000. If you use your camera and computer with the original PhotoMAX SE software, contact the Polaroid Parts Department for more information about purchasing a PhotoMAX software upgrade. Windows NT4 No TWAIN driver is available for use with Windows NT4.
