Onchip primaryPCI/IDE enabled. Sata raid/AHCI mode [Raid] shut down and restarted same problem, went back in again and set onchip sata mode [ Auto] would not start up. went into the raid configuration Utility. in the Phyical and logical drive it shows the HL-DT-ST-DVD Ram GH-20 CD-Rom. Hello Pablocsa. Thank you for the quick reply. I went back into the [standard Cmos Feartures]. The setup is like this. IDE Channel 0 master St 3160812A. IDE Channel 0 slave DVD RAM. I discoonnected the DVD Ram on the slave to see if there was a conflict still would not start. I changed the hard drive pin select to cable select still no start. [The intergrated peripherals] serup is like this. on chip primary PCI/IDE [enabled]. Sata Raid/ACHI mode [Raid] H/W Sata Function {Raid] I went back into the raid configuration Utility and there is nothing to setup as it is asking for the raid set. Raid 0 Raid 1 RAID IO. I want to know why it will not load and work the Sata DVd burner. Many Thanks. Terry.

This is happening because the DVD SATA is booting like a first drive instead of the IDE Drive.
Be sure that your SATA drive is connected to a right port on your motherboard.
Go to your bios and into the boot options be sure that the IDE drive boot first than the SATA DVD.
******************************
Another way is connecting an adaptor SATA to IDE and connect your SATA DVD Drive as second IDE on your motherboard.

This will be fixing your problem.

Have a great day
Pablo :-)

I want to download all info from my desktop and motherboard into mylaptop

Hi Eva!

If your desktop is crashed, then you will need to verify if its internal hard drive is still working, and then conect it using an USB/SATA/IDE adapter to your Laptop. This is one: http://www.sataadapter.com/SATA-IDE-ATA-66-ATA-100-ATA-133-COMBO-ADAPTER/sata-ide-adapter-usb-hard-drive-sata-drive.html

If the problem with your desktop is with its hard drive, then... you need to take your computer to its manufacturer technnical service center.

Wher to plug in sata conector to motherboard for dvd burner

It depends on which motherboard it is, some older boards don't have sata connector just ide. Have a look at this picture: SATA IDE
1= IDE
2= SATA

Will an IDE DVD Burner work on my Acer Aspire E380 desktop. The hard drive is a SATA but the burner looks like an IDE and has belt cables. I need to replace my DVD burner and not sure what type of burner...

Yes, all you need is a IDE (Pata) to IDE (Sata) converter.

If you're replacing it, just make sure you get one with the correct interface, judging by what you sat SATA.

Will a SATA DVD Burner work in my Acer aspire 380 Desktop?

Hi

Thank you for your query

The answer is yes and no

No in the sense that you only have one IDE controller which is currently feeding your CD/DVD drive and the other is 1 SATA controller that is going to your hard drive HOWEVER yes in the sense if you purchase a sata splitter for the drive and a sata splitter for the power you could power both the SATA burner and Hard drive off the main cable.

This is not recommended and you do so at your own risk

I hope this has been useful

My disc drive wont open, i tryed hitting it, prying, and even tearing off the front off my tower! any ideas?

in front of your cd rom disc drive you will see a very small hole, try to insert a small sharp object or pin that will fit in the hole, that is the bypass key to open the disk tray

I want to install a 2nd dvd burner. But I don't know how to hook it up. My new pc does not have the ribbons like my old one does.

If your 2nd DVD burner is on IDE interface, you may need to get an IDE to SATA cable. Please refer to the picture below as to how it looks like:

Dvd/cd audio plug and or wire

Here is a link from HP for your motherboard:

Is the DVD drive a SATA drive? That is, does it have a small (approx. 3/4") connection next to the power connector or does it have an IDE 40 pin connector? If it is a SATA drive, you do not need an audio cable connection.

without knowing if it is a PATA or SATA I'll give you a best Guess.

in the lower right corner are 4 connectors...white,yellow,black,blue. These are SATA data transfer connectors. If the dvd burner has a similar connector there should be a cable from here to the burner and a power connector from the power supply to the back of the burner like F in the picture below. Either connector F and M should come from the Power Supply.
f3886db.jpg
if the burner has a connector like F it is SATA, if like M then it is IDE and a flat ribbon cable would come off the IDE connector (BLUE) under the power supply 20 pin connector next to the Ram memory modules.

HOW TO CONNECT SAMSUNG DVD SH-203N TO A ASUS MOTHERBOARD

This is a SATA DVD Burner.
There should be a sata power and sata data cable

19599bd.jpg
SATA POWER ADAPTER CABLE F is the power cable that attaches to the DVD the other end should be part of the power supply but if it isn't you would need this.

a4193cd.jpg
This is the SATA DATA cable would connect to the SATA point on the motherboard to the DVD burner, if the MOBO doesn't have this type connector on it you will need an ide to sata adapter
