Unfortunately, the lithium battery for the clock is located on the control switch block, which is a flexible board and Sony does not supply the battery as a separate part. Also, it is quite involved to get to the switch block to replace it. I wouldn't recommend your average consumer tackle this job. Even though this isn't the news you're looking for, I would appreciate a decent rating. Thanks.

DCR-TRV30 Internal clock battery is end of life. It will not charge overnight or hold date/time set information between main battery changes. There is no replacement information in the user manual. Where...

This small back-up battery on my Sony is under the main big power battery, it is like a large screw under the main power pack, I just turn that screw and the little round lid comes off to get to the little silver flat back-up one.
They are readily available from most good camera shops like Jesops for around £12 to £15 each.

Its not a problem. That's a system of your camera. view your manual book. If there you find that your camera have a small internal battery which is used for memory like date & time then replace it because that have not power to run your camera memory.
Thanks. If your have any doubt then ask me again.

We are in the middle of a production (Live, right now) and one of our XL1's is shutting down whenever we hit the record button.

It may be timing out. Is the camera in standby mode? If yes, put it in record and lock.
I have an XL1 and a GL1 that sometimes shuts down. Is there a tape in the camera? It will time out sometimes if there is no tape rolling. Even if I am capturing directly to a computer, I always roll a tape, just to keep the camera from timing out.
What does your battery guage read in the viewfinder? A low battery will shut you down without warning. Try running from the power adapter if you have one.

Internal clock battery not working - thus, can't download into computer

Some of these batteries are soldered onto the board because of vibration concerns. Yes the battery can be chaged. It incvolves takeing hte camera apart though. I would not suggest that you do this unless you have worked on cameras before.

As far as the record not happening right away... That is another problem not related to the bad battery. I would need to research that problem a bit before I comment too much.

Keep us posted.

CAN ANYONE HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM URGENTLY?

Unless somebody comes up quickly with a better solution for you, it may be an internal battery problem, especially if you keep having to set the time. Mustek DV-3500 DV Digital Camcorder /keeps turning off

Be sure the batteries are not the rechargeable types.  I had this problem when I first got my camera about 4 years ago.  Also, try adjusting the quality settings for the functions.  For example, set the photo function at normal rather than fine.
