Battery not recognize

How old is the battery? It could be that the charger killed the battery; that is if it's early in life (less that 3 months old) if it's a year of more old it's a good chance that the battery is shot. Depending on the battery type, rechargeable have very specific duty cycle. You don't just plug them in all the time. You use it till it's at least 85% to 90% discharged before recharging them. If you don't they don't last very long.

Turning on the camera.

You can try to remove the battery to allow the circuitry to reset to factory defaults. If that do not work, I would suggest to get repair under manufacturers warranty. Most electronics devices have one year warranty.
Good Luck.

Camera will not power on

Does this happen when you use the power adapter? Try using the power adapter one time to fire the camera up, then switch to battery power and see if that works.

SONY DSC-H9 WON'T STAY POWERED UP

I think that both your batteries are bad. Because the batteries have sat on a shelf not being used the batteries will only take a surface charge and not fully charge. Bum a battery from someone with a Sony that uses the same battery and see if that works.

If you've replaced the date battery, then the camera is defective. Being only a month old, first recommend seeing if your retailer will exchange it. If not, Canon will fix for free under warranty. Call 1-800-OK-CANON.

No power

Both your camera and the battery have a warranty, so I would call Canon and they may replace your battery out of goodwill even though it has been more than 30 days, if you provide your proof of purchase, this is always a possibility...to avoid having you have to purchase one or send camera in for service. No guarantees of course, but you should at least give it a shot.

Before doing that, remove lens, battery, memory card and date time battery which is a 3v coin battery located in your main battery compartment. It reads cr12203v on the top and you probably never knew it was there, but try to find it and slide it out gently.

Next replace the batteries and try to power on and take a shot without the lens. If this works, try adding the lens, if this works add the card and if this works, your problems are over. If it stops working at any point along the way, you know it is whatever the last thing was that you added that is causing the problem.

Either way, call Canon and their free tech support will help troubleshoot over the phone with you and set you up for service if they deem it necessary. They may ask you to send in battery and charger also to determine if there is a problem with either of those.

If you want to just try another battery, if you have time, stop by a camera store and ask if you can use the display model's battery if they have one. Most stores are ok with that.

Hope this helps!

Problem in battery

Well is it the correct battery? Assuming it is and should be if supplied with camera- How old is it? Batteries do lose their capacity to hold full voltage as they age - so perchance it is not delivering enough. This is especially applicable to re-chargable batteries. A New battery then
