How do Setup a password for my router already have one password need to set a password for guest

You need to use your browser to log in to your router. Locate the guest account in the menu and set a new password. If you'd like, many routers allow you to disable guest accounts entirely. If you need specific step-by-step instructions, I need to know what brand and model router you are using, what OS your computer has, and what browser you use for accessing the internet.

My internet connection via the router (d-link DI-524) have slowed down. how do i reset settings or put a password?

Maybe you have an open WiFi (no password wireless) and anyboby near can connect to your router and download files, this can slow down your Internet connection. To put a password to your wireless network, enter setup preferably by a wired connection to router, in your browser type the default IP address of it (, the user is admin and its password must be left blank (default settings), at the Home tab go directly to Wireless option since you'll only change your WiFi from unsecure to secure, there you can choose the security type, WPA is recommended, after select it you can put the new Key (password) of your WiFi, and finally apply to get changes working, just remember that after this procedure, you'll have to enter the password in each new wireless connection to your router.

I just installed the internet at home from mediacom and i needed to plug my d-link router to have a wireless network at home and i dont have the configuration disk for my router and i dont know how to make...

You NEVER need that CD-ROM disk. :-)

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from a LAN port on the router to the network-port on your computer.

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type CMD
Press Enter.
Press Enter.
Look for output similar to:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
Start Internet Explorer.
Type (or whatever value that you saw).
Login to the router (ID: admin, password: [blank]).
Click to run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard".
Enter an SSID.
Choose an encryption-level (use: 'WPA').
Choose a password for your wireless network.
Save the changes.

Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and click "View Available Wireless Networks". Connect to the SSID that you chose, and enter the password.

Lost install disk

You don't even need the installation disk! Just do these easy steps:
Plug in your PC directly to your router. And make sure it is turned on. Also plug in your MODEM into the routers modem port.
On your computer open up Internet Explorer. Then in the address box type in: routerlogin, net
User: admin Pass: password
if password for the password does not work then just leave the box blank. Then just complete the steps.
If this works or if you need help then PLEASE email me:
email me wither it works or not!

My internet reception has slowed down

first i would check and make sure you have your wireless network secured, if your using wep encryption chances are that someone is using your internet and slowing you down. go into your routers settings by typing in this address in a web browser the default password will be admin if you havent already changed that, if you havent i highly recomend that go under the administration tab and change the password there, next click on the wireless tab and change your encryption to wpa personal and change your password just to be safe and make sure no ones stealing your signal, you can also check and see if anyone other than you is logged onto your wireless by going to the status tab and then click on dhcp client list or client table and that will list all the devices connected to your system it should start with an ip of about and if there are more than 2 of those ip address listed then someone else is logged on and stealing your internet, change the passwords and save the settings after you make any changes then after that you'll have to reconect your laptop using the new password this should help :)

Internet speed is very slow with NET GEAR WGR614 router

MTU Adjustment

1. Access the web-based utility of the router.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing or in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

2. Adjust the MTU setting.

a. Click on the WAN Setup under Advanced tab.
b. Lower down the MTU size to 1492, 1400, 1358 or 1300.
c. Click on the Apply button.

Note: You may verify from your ISP the recommended MTU size you can use.
