To replace the spring trunk opener

The right spring trunk opener of my honda civc 97 broke down, I would like to know the right way to replace the new spring. Somebody told me that I need special tool to installing the new. Thank you very much.

You are best to take it to a honda dealer there is alot of tension on those springs and yes there is a special tool a honda mechanic i work with was careless with this issue he broke his wrist

There's a longsteel rod on the roof of your trunk that goes from one trunk hinge to the other and it acts like a spring when your trunk lever is pulled. Sounds like it broke on one side.

Yes, you need a stiffer shock. Your probably bottoming out. You'll need the camber and alignment checked after you stiffen it. The ride will not be so pleasant so slow down for bumps.
