Question about Toshiba Satellite A135 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba Satellite Laptop DVD Player

I've tried to play DVD's multiple times and my player simply says:
"Unable to output the video to an external device. Please switch your display device by pressing the Fn + F5 keys after ending the application"
I did what it said to and there was no way to change my device. I went to the control panel and my DVD rom and my Display are both working properly and I don't know what to try next.
I don't know why it is trying an external device because I don't have any displays attached to my laptop.

It sounds like the DVD player software is defaulting to an external monitor connection for the DVD video output. Try installing a different player or reinstalling/reconfiguring the one provided.

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. It won't play DVD's and keeps saying wrong area code...I live in Australia, bought the PC in Australia and am trying to play Australian DVD's but

hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it.
hope this helps

The Toshiba DVD Player will not work. It keeps displaying a message that says, "unable to output the videon to an external device. Please check the external output setting after ending the application."

U have not mentioned that what have u experienced with other media players like Win Media Player, if that works fine, u have to reinstall the Toshiba DVD player software from the official website of toshiba by following the link below;

Hope this will solve the problem.

The Toshiba DVD player won't play a DVD nor will Windows Media Player play a DVD. Downloaded another free DVD player from web and it worked momentarily then quit.

Check the Toshiba site for updated drivers for your dvd player. Also check the recall section for your particular model dvd player. They had several that were recalled.

Best media player out there with built-in codecs is VLC Player. Plays any video or DVD. Download here and it will solve most of your problems:
