You would need the service manual to even begin to troubleshoot a no start situation in a toshiba TV.

Tv screen black, makes a chirping noise

This tv problem are also part the tv Convergence board problems too.The tv convergence board are toally dead have no power voltages activity to the tv convergence board at all. That why u only have chirping sound only.If ur tv convergence board that have some power voltages activity left and have dying parts on the tv Convergence board only.Tv will have picture but have problems R,G,B colors lines mis alignments, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures only. The tv convergence board must be repair like replaced 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resitors too. Will fix the tv convergence board will fixed the DLP tvs with chirping noises too.The tvs shops will cost u like $300-$350 for parts and labors to fixed the tv convergence board.

TV is blurry and the red and green look as if the picture is in 3d and I need glasses. Can I fix this myself?

There is almost nothing that can be fixed by yourself if your not trained in high voltages and advanced circuitry now days. This sounds like it could be your color guns going bad or the power supply.
This set also has an issue with The tv convergence board, require 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems.

You turn on the tv then it turns off right away with no picture displayed could probably used new screen too

The repair of this unit will be determined by the status of the high voltage on initial power up. You need to do a few tests in order to narrow down what the high voltage is doing. You will need someone to assist you.

Unplug the AC cord. Remove the rear lower cover from the tv. Make sure the room is quiet. Put your ear inside the tv being careful not to touch anything metal, although most metal objects are ground. Next, have someone insert the cord into the AC outlet while listening very carefully. What you are supposed to hear is a click which is a relay and high voltage snap up. If you do not hear a swishing sound, which is the sound of high voltage have someone press the power button on the front while you are still listening. If you hear the swishing high voltage sound come on, it will come on and stay on, or collapse. Repeat the test, unplug the cord and plug in the cord to confirm the high voltage is coming on and staying on or coming on and going into collapse.

If the high voltage does not come up at all it means that there is a basic high voltage power supply problem and an experienced technician needs to guide you through a high level repair which is above the scope of this discussion. You may want to contact a skilled technician.

If the high voltage comes up and collapses right away, which is the most common fault, it means that the unit is entering the protection mode. The protection mode is most commonly caused by convergence or vertical sweep system on that model and big screens in general. These repairs can possibly be done by consumers with basic electronics knowledge. If you want to repond with test results we can supply more information on repairing the convergence or the vertical sweep system.

If the high voltage stays up then the likely fault is a power supply problem is muting both the video and the audio causing the unit to go into protect. Consult a service manual, track power flow though out the unit to determine which circuit is impaired.

I have a philips 9p6044. where can I buy convergence ic's and a

its far more likely that you need a new Vertical output IC. The convergence ICs wouldnt prevent the picture. When you have audio but no video it is often meaning vertical failure. Try replaceing the vertical IC

Tv Problem

Sony TVs generate an error code. The front panel LED (red) will flash anywhere from one to eight times which can isolate the problem circuit. It is not always accurate.

If you have a test meter which can read DC voltages and resistance in ohms, you can locate the problem area. If you lack the expertice to do so, contact a sony authorized servicer. If you have the ability, start by checking fuses on the "G" board ( power supply board) and the "D" board or deflection board.

A major problem area in this TV is the convergence circuit. There are six fuses around the convergence output ICs on the "D" board.

If any are open, replaces the output ICs.

I have a sony projection tv and the red is coming out of line where it makes you see double like a red rainbow effect shadow. I tried the flash focus and the problem still persists any ideas on where to go...

When you first turn it on,Count the flashes on the standby/power button.

Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground,or held high), IK video path is defective.

Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This isalso a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.

Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted.Check IC1509, Q1505

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on
the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits
.
Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 (flyback
transformer), or the associative components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.

Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times
you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).

Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors
are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board

No Picture / TV screen RED

There seems to be a dry solder joint on the video amplifier IC. The red picture is cause by a defective video amplifier IC(IC701) that is located on the red CRT assembly.
This repair might not be a DIY due to the danger of working around devices that produce high voltages in excess of 32KV.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

The black box with 4 large red wires in it is the high voltage distribution box. One red wire brings the high voltage in and the other 3 bring high voltage to each of the 3 picture tubes. If those red wires are not all the way in and tight, then there will be high voltage arcing inside that box and the picture will rapidly flicker. Make sure all red wires are pushed all the way into those holes and your picture should be back to normal. Convergence IC's will not make the picture flicker, so I am sure your IC's are fine.
