SOURCE: how to input radio code for my s reg audi a4

I just did this, successfully, on an 2002 Audi a4 Avant, thanks to the radio manual. Follow these instructions if you have four 4-digit code at the ready:
Turn on the radio's power. When it reads: SAFE, push AS and RDS simultaneously. Then enter the 4-digit code, using the first four buttons used to program stations. Each will go from 0-9. When you have all four numbers entered, push AS and RDS simultaneously again. The radio should now play.

My A3 1999 CAR RADIO IS STUCK ON SAFE MODE. NOTHING HAPPENS IT JUST SAYS 'SAFE' I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OBTAIN THE CAR SERIAL NUMBER OR CAR MANUAL BOOKLET TO UNLOCK IT. HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE 4 DIGIT CODE...

Radio must be pulled from dash and serial number noted. You'll need radio tools. These are two keys that insert in the side of the radio to unlatch the securing locks.

Available on eBay. Few dollar$

Possible if radio still original, dealer may give you code numbers. However, you may have to prove you are the owner.

Sometimes the radio code is written on a sticker in the trunk next to the spare wheel..

1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.

4. By the #2 key you will set up the second safe code digit.
5. By the #3 key you will set up the third safe code digit.
6. By the #4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit.

My radio is on safe mode in my 1999 audi a6. i dont have my code wondering how to get it off safe mode.

Call a BMW Audi, or Jaguar dealer, and give them your vin number they will give you the code, if they want you to bring it in ask them how much they will charge it may be cheaper to get an after market radio and have it installed

Raido is in safe mode. how do I get in working again?

You need to input the radio code if you have it. You can usually find it in the glovebox along with owners manual. Look for something like a business card labeled radio anti-theft and input the code. If you can't find card then call dealer and give the VIN# of vehicle. Then they will be able to give you code.

Call the dealer, or take the radio to the dealer with you ID and Registration, they will give you your code, write it down and file it in a safe spot. I had to do the same thing for my BMW.
