Replace flyback transfomer!

I'd first just hook up the DVD/VCR to the TV and get that working. I'm assuming all you need is the standard cable type connection. This will at least your 4 year old happy. Then you can experiment with the S cable. The S cable will give a cleaner signal from the DVD to the TV. then hook up audio and video cables from the Direct TV to the DVD input. The audio and video will be cleaner using S cables and audio and video cables, but stadard TV cable should get you going. You didn't mention what model DVD player you have. You may have to select the correct inout on the DVD for the Direct TV connection.

bulb? what model do you have....is this a d52w19? if this is a rca itc222 chasis unfortunatly it has no bulbs.. it should have tubes and these are not fesable to change

This guys have it but is a bit expensive.

hot-replace and solder all leads to smt transformer.set should power up.also flyback may have shorted.rca has a repair kit for this set. all necessary parts.

That buzzing might be two things. It could be the color wheel or the ballast for the bulb. To check this you will have to move the projection section of the TV out of the case and listen for the sound in the area of the color wheel and the ballast. Try removing the color wheel power to see if the buzzing stops if it does then it's the color wheel is not and the ballast is buzzing then It's the ballast, and it will need replacing or if you know electronics you could try fixing the old ballast (I would suggest getting a new ballast).

Better still if you are uncomfortable working on the set you could get a qualified TV repair person to repair your TV .

Bad tuner.......they are electronically divided in sections called
bandwidths, i.e. 2-6 , 7-13 so-on.........T.
Give accurate model # / service # for RCA part #............

it is high voltage section failure

better call skilled tech to fix it.

 

no reset button ,sorry. The problem you describe is pretty common with this model as its a fault in the horizontal drive circuit or in the main power supply and without the proper service manual as well as the prober tools and equipment this set its not gonna get fixed. there are no panels or user changable boards as it is a solid state set. ptscorp.com could repair this board or exchange it with a referbished board but it would still requir some adjustment that a user may not be able to handle. time to call the pro..
