Gateway 4530 keyboard replacement

I need to replace my gateway 4530 keyboard. I've got the replacement, unscrewed all of the visable screws on the bottom, and can separate the bottom a little, but is bound up arpound the battery connection in the back. I have looked on line for a detailed schematic or a repair manual to show me how to get the bottom completely off with no luck. HELP!

I have a similar problem however its kinda weird. Few days ago the letter "D" key was not working. And I thoght it was really a keyboard problem so I decided to bring it the shop by the end of the week. However, I was having a LAN isse and I have to have the LAN settings reset for my internet to work. The technicians jst set static IP to my laptop and I ot internet however after they did that my letter "D" key is now working however the problem moved the the the key between the letters "Y" and "I". So I am thinking this is not a hardware related isse bt perhaps software. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

You don't have to take off the bottom.
You need to take off the panel right in front of the screen

1. Pop off the strip in front of the keyboard.
2. Unscrew the 3 screws.
3. pop off the panel that has the startup button on it.
4. Take the keyboard and put in the replacement.
5. To put it back together.

Russ, did you try to open the so called keyboard cover which is the flat cover with a hole for your power button? There might be a screw underneath.

How do I replace a keyboard on a Gateway NE522?

Laptop keyboard replacement procedures are all similar,

Search on the internet for how to replace ne552 keyboard (or similar). You my find quite a number of nearly relevant instructional videos and step-by-step instructions, referring to slightly different models..Look at a few and see how similar they are, pick one and follow it eg

What you really need is the maintenance & service manual, but there doesn't seem to be one. You might try contacting Gateway support and asking.
Keyboards for your model are readily available, on ebay or from commercial parts suppliers, even Gateway

How do I replace the keyboard on a Gateway LT3119U?

Visit the Gateway support document website and locate the "User's Guide" section of the listings for your laptop model.

You should be able to locate either a "component replacement manual," or a document focusing specifically on replacement of the keyboard for that model (as different models of keyboards have slightly different methods of removing the keyboard.)

You may also wish to check the FAQ's in the support documents of your model, as they may also contain information on replacing the keyboard.

Power down your Gateway laptop and remove the battery.

This will not only ensure that you don't accidentally damage your laptop by powering it up while working on its components, but may also be necessary to reach the mounting screws for your laptop's keyboard.

Press the power button once after the battery has been removed to discharge any remaining electricity that the laptop may have stored.

Consult the support documents for your Gateway laptop model and find out where the keyboard mounting screws are located.

There will most likely be between two and five screws, depending on the specific model of laptop that you own.

You may be required to remove the keyboard bezel (the strip of plastic that runs along the top of the keyboard) in order to reach some or all of the screws; this can be done either by sliding the bezel off to the right of the laptop or by simply lifting it off once loosened (though you may need to use a coin or flat-head screwdriver to detach clips or pry the bezel out of its resting location.)

Remove the screws holding the keyboard in place.

The screws will either be located on the bottom of the laptop (under the space that the battery occupies) or beneath the keyboard bezel.

Put the screws in a safe place where they will not be lost, since you will need to use them to secure the new keyboard.

Lift the keyboard up from the bottom, detaching the keyboard connector and pulling the keyboard itself free from the Gateway laptop, then setting it aside.

You may need to once again use a coin or flat-head screwdriver in order to depress clips which might be holding the keyboard in place.)

Plug your new keyboard into the keyboard connector, then carefully place it back into the space previously occupied by your old keyboard.

If the keyboard is designed to be held in place by clips, press down with sufficient pressure to clip the keyboard into place.

Replace the screws that you had previously removed from the Gateway laptop.

Make sure that the screws are firmly in place both to ensure that the keyboard is secure and also to eliminate any potential problems with replacing the bezel or battery.

Reattach the bezel (if you removed it) and the laptop battery, making sure that all components have been reattached and are firmly secured.

Once the battery is back in place, press the power button to power up the Gateway laptop and give your operating system a chance to recognize the newly-installed keyboard.

hope this helps

there is a single screw on the bottom of the laptop hidden by a little rubber cover. pry out the rubber cover and unscrew one small philips head screw, then the unit slides out and you can buy a new one to replace it.

Need to replace the cmos battery on a gateway 450sx4 laptop.

Some are way deep inside, and you have to remove the top part of the case from the bottom.

Some others, you can remove the top power strip, (unscrew screws in the battery compartment, and sometimes on the bottom) and then unscrew the keyboard, and when you remove that, sometimes you can get right to it.

The only problem is, some of the laptop batteries are odd ducks, and not just the standard, they have wires or a metal tag on them. You can always order a new one onces you get to it.

How to disassemble a Gateway 7330GZ Laptop?

hi I have just repaired my gateway 7330 it has a structure similar to m520s and many other e machines (power jack and battery problem) now it is even charging :O I was about to order jack but just iron soldering worked fine here is step by step I can help anyone through my email, I am living in maine I can even repair for free
you should get the screws out at the back of the pc all the way
take out the harddisk before you start
pop up the two things from the back of the lcd
pop out the power and volume panel
unscrew the keyboard
unscrew the metal panels
(you should take out two cables from wireless adapter before while unscrewing the back side so it wont bother you it is easy to plug and unplug)
lean the lcd all the way back and unscrew underneath the lcd 4 screws
there are still two screws under the lcd area to the left unscrew them if you see them
take out the dvd writer
unscrew any other places that you find on the motherboard
there is a lean point(the metal long thing screwed to motherboard around beneath the left windows key take it out too)
take the card reader out by unscrewing 2-3 screws
thats all I remember
after unscrewing and taking all the pieces out
try to pull the mainboard from microphone speaker input
(unscrew any other remaining screws if you feel any pressure)
with a screwdriver try pulling from the input and the left of the keyboard pull the mainboard but be careful
create a little space that you can work with the dc input
the most inportant ones are the two in the middle
try to concentrate on the one that wore most
take the old solder out by your soldering gun or whatever
and then put new ones in carefully
put all the stuff back (whenever I do it I almost always have afew more screws than I am supposed to whatever it works)
be careful pulling the keyboard cable and other similar cables (they have a bed which can be opened dont just pull it) pull the bed upwards and open it and then take it out do the opposite when putting it all back
thats all no matter what other people say I love this pc I love p4s
gateway is better than ok (you should have seen my acer)
