Question about CB Radios

CB radio PA speaker

I recently swapped out my crappy Cobra 19 Ultra III for a nice Cobra 29 LTD NW CLASSIC. everything seems to work fine so far but the PA speaker. On my old radio the speaker was quite loud. this one is so super quiet. The radio is used but was said to be tested. when i receive a signal on the radio through the PA it sounds a little louder but not much... Any fix on this one guys!?!?!

    Howdy mechanic!
I have actually solved the problem recently. The radio is rather new. It is used but maybe one to two years old. It was the mic that came with it. I could not figure out why no one was talkin to me. So i swapped my mic out with an older cobra mic my grandfather had in his big truck. And let me tell you the PA screams so loud! and people can hear me loud and clear. But i will keep those factors that you listed above in memory just incase something were to happen to it later on down the road.
    Thanks for all the help!

Freddy, hello. The first thought that comes to mind with your problem is that if the 29 is an older model, the audio circuit or audio chip could be tired. If your talking about the receive volume being low thru the ext. speaker, then there is a rx. wire inside the mic cord. When it breaks, it cuts the volume in about half. The rx. wire is on pin # 4. Maybe your using the wrong ohm value speaker. You need 4 or 8 ohm. If you are refering to the outgoing modulation being real low, then the radio mod. has just been turned down to 50-60%. That's about all I've got for now, not being able to actuallly see the radio,,, Have a good day, and let me know how it goes,, Mechanic
