Re: router causing loss of internet service
I have the same router and you are very fortunate, this router is easily updated with vasty improved firmware. This allows this router to perform as well as a $600 router! DD-WRT is the name of the software and it is available for FREE! Check out this site, http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
I hope you find this software as useful as I have, good luck!
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

You will lose all the settings of your network if you reset Linksys router. If you have active Internet through your router then you will lose the Internet settings. You will need to reconfigure your router from the beginning. Follow link to setup your Linksys router without CD.
your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.
What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM
hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.
if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.
Is your laptop wireless adapter a compatable brand. It doesn't necessarily mean the router is bad, you may even be getting RADIO interference from a cordlees or a cell phone in it's path. Do you have the capability to plug a cat-5 cable directly into your laptop from the router when you lose wireless? Check the wireless channels and see about changing the channel on your cordless phone too. May not work, just a hunch.
Try to upgrade the latest firmware for your router and then reset and reconfigure your router , that will fix your problem,if still not ,Check if your router is still under warranty, call linksys for a replacement, if not then it seems your router might have gone bad
