This machine plays DVD discs fine but can only hear...

Purchased new at Christmas time -- this machine has been somewhat of a headache. Purchased specifically to transfer our older VHS tapes onto DVD's to perserve them. This machine has always seemed tempermental; however now we can't see the picture with VHS tape but hear the sound fine. DVD player works fine. Suggestions?

there is a trick to clean the vcr heads, use a dolar to gentely rub the heads but be carfull if you dont do very gentel can break the head, apply little presure to the head with a dolar in your finger and move the cilender back and foward, not the dolar...good luck

Try first to clean the video heads then if that dosent work take in the machine to have the heads professionally cleaned. God Luck

Always be carefull when manually cleaning a video heads as The other tech didnt say do not move up and down and thats whats a no no .I used to love it wne a peep would try to professionally clean there own video heads!! more money for me. Dont be a cheap skate get it done right the first time.
