I am going to work on the assumption that you have computer speakers (they have a power cord) and all the cables you need. Let me know if my answer doesn't seem to fit your situation.
On the back of your computer there should be a mini-phones jack with a tiny picture of a speaker or next to it. This is the output of your computer that needs to be connected to the input of your speakers. Your speakers will have a mini phones jack marked "input" or a wire with a mini phones plug on the end. Once you have the input connected just turn the power on and away you go.

How do I setup my yamaha rx - v359?

Hello
I think that you haven't had the user manual to this set with you now. It has all the details of its setup, speaker connections, speaker placement etc:-. If you haven't the manual with you, send you email address to me by Fixya comment box. I've the manual to this set, and I'll send a copy of it to you by return mail. I can't send it to you by this window, as it does not allow me to upload any files by it. OK.

WISH YOU A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS 2012.

I can't get sound out of my amplifier and I haven't changed anything. What could be the problem?

Start by choosing FM on a known frequency with a station broadcasting and volume is turned down to a NORMAL listening level. Next, make sure speaker selector isn't the wrong position (make sure "SPEAKERS OFF/A/B/A+B is set to A [or B to match the speaker terminal connections]), check to be sure "Mute" function is not activated by pressing the MUTE button on the remote to toggle it between on & off, Make sure headphones are disconnected. Make sure "PROTECT" is not displayed on the front as this indicates a shorted speaker wire - shut off and repair the shorted wire(s).

If you get sound on FM, but have an issue with another external component (CD, DVD, Phono, etc.) check the cables between the component and the input panel on the rear of the STR-DE595.

I hope this helps & good luck!

I plugged in my Altec AP3 Speakers to my computer running windows 7. It does not play. i get sound directly from my PC (it had sound prior to plugging in speakers) however the Altec speakers have no sound

Hello
You haven't specified from which computer source you connects this device with. If it is from the audio out socket of the PC, your PC's audio card [or onboard audio] dirive hasn't been installed yet. Unlike WinXP, Win-7 haven't all driver software in its driver cab when it is installed. If onboard sound should energize, the mother board CD should be loaded. There is audio and video drive [normally NVIDIA] drive should be installed. Anyway, you have to install the dirve. Now it disabled. Go to the hardware confujuration of your system, and look whether onboard audio is disabled. If it is disabled, inable it. If there is no driver installed to it, the system will ask CD. Then insert the CD into the CD tray, and follow the instructions. If your Win-7 is registered, you can get diretly into Microsoft site, and can download the driver needed. OK.

I have some older JBL Platinum Series speakers I'm attempting to use on an IBM Laptop.....there is an incredible amount of background noise (motor boat putting and static). Is there a solution to...

Could be your computer, the cables, connections, or the speakers themselves.
Using a process of elimination is the only way to be sure. Try plugging the speakers into a different device to check if the computer is at fault. If the problem persists, Try wiggling the plugs and cable, as there may be a short somewhere along the line, or the jacks/plugs may not be connecting properly. Finally if this doesn't help, try playing through one speaker at a time using the balance fader, to see if the problem is only in one of the speakers. If the problem persists, it's most likely time for a better set of speakers.
Hope this helps, Benji

My AS 500 Sound Bar speakers are crakeling (PArt # 4y463)

Usually, the crackling indicates a connection that's not making a good connection. you can try twisting the plug where it connects to your computer and see if you can get it to make a better connect. Also, you may try cleaning the plug itself. When cleaning contacts with any sort of household alcohol, be aware that it can leave a residue so you'll need to use a clean/dry tissue to dry the plug and remove any residue. -hope that helps.
