Want to remove the agitator to look for my lost diamond ring

I'm pretty sure that my ring went through the wash in my series 80 Kenmore washer model # 92283100. I want to remove the agitator to look for it but can't even get the cap off. Also, are there other places in the washer that a ring might be lodged?

The larger holes on the agitator have something like a rubber liner underneath them. My husband doesn't think a ring could pass through those holes because of that liner so he stopped there and didn't go further to look at the pump. If i thought there was a chance that the ring could be under the pump I would call in a service person. Any comment on those larger holes on the agitator?

I appreciate your taking the time to respond but what I need to know is if the 4 larger holes on the agitator, which appear to have some sort of membrane under them, would allow a ring to pass through? The other holes are way to small. The question is, is it worth taking that membrane off to check the pump to see if the ring is there? Is there anywhere else in the washer that the ring could be lodged?

Your last comment convinced me not to take the washing machine aprat to look for the ring and, luckily, I found it the next morning (not in the washer at all!). Thanks again

If your ring was small enough to go through the holes in agitator, then there is a pump under the washer that has plastic and rubber parts that can be removed. Especially Kenmore which should have a rubber boot type looking thing under the pump. You can't miss it.

It all depends on the size of your ring. If you think that it will fit in the hole chances are it's down there.

If there is a membrane covering the holes that's so nothing can get through there like socks and underwear and diamond rings. I don't think it's in there. But if you can't find your ring anywhere else then it would be Worth your piece of mind to have a look.

Kenmore 80 series leaking....plastic tub cracked on the bottom

if you removed the large nut (round with four notches cut in it ) then tub should be free. sometimes these "rust together" on the hub. wd40 and a hammer to knock it free. try rocking the basket to break free. you did remove the tub ring(white plastic part on top), right?

Kenmore washing machine 80 Series 110 20802 990 Will not agitate or spin"

You need to replace the Kenmore Washer Lid Switch. I had the same problem so being lazy I would just push down on the washer's lid and it would push the lid switch further down. making the water drain. after a while I just replaced the lid switch.

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
