Unplug the Tv from power source and undo all cables. Wait for at least 24 hours for the circuitry to dry well (or use a handryer in high heat on the back of the TV). After 24 hours, replug everything and see. If it still does not work properly, these settings can be adjusted through the service mode. All the available geometry and grayscale tracking adjustments are doneby manual controls located inside the set. They may be labelled.

WARNING!
Without proper documentation and training, you can probably do quitea good job of messing up your television set, perhaps even damaging it.
Don't mess around with the service mode adjustments unless you know what you're doing and have the service manual to guide you.
Once you enter service mode the first thing you should do is record all the original values BEFOREyou change anything! - This is the only way to restore the televisionto its original (factory default) state should it become necessary todo so.

If unsure, PLEASE call a service tech. Remeber, there are DANGEROUS voltages in the TV, even when unplugged. SO please do not attempt to open up the set if you are unaware, or have no experience.

You might be experiencing a circuit board or electrical short since you did not let it dry before it got plugged up. Since water conducts electricity, when it got wet and you plugged it back up, electricity that is supposed to only flow through certain parts of the circuit board went over every part of the circuit board that was wet, causing it to short out and not to allow power past it no more to stop the tv from catching fire. You will need to get it checked out at a shop to confirm the suspicion and to get it fixed.

Well, the usual repair is replacement of the STK IC chips in the convergence circuitry. You can find many references to the parts and procedures on this by doing a google search or looking through the allexperts.com archives.

My Model TV # is 51swx20B. Two days ago the picture started having a lot of green in it and no blue. What is the repair needed.

Do adjustments on focus block. Will have to open front panel access door, focus block blue will be on left, green will be on top. Top screen bottom focus. Turn clockwise to increase, counter clockwise to decrease brightness. Turn the color all the way down on menu where it's pure black and white and make adjustments for perfect black and white picture, then when you adjust color, it will be perfect.

How do I program the tv to watch Wii?

You can use your remote to change the video source to the one you have your Wii plugged into on your tv.
  1. Press the Menu button on your remote
  2. Press Enter or the Right Arrow button to access the Setup menu
  3. Use the up/down arrow to select Main Input
  4. Press Enter or the Right Arrow to enter the Main Input menu and then use the Up/Down arrow to select the correct input.
  5. Press Exit to exit the menus and go back to full screen.
Note: The Input you want should be labeled where you plugged in the Wii.
The directions (with pictures) to do this are in the following link to page 25 of the manual for your tv:

My Sony Bravia KDF-E50A12U has a ghost effect when I play the ps3 or xbox 360. Strangley my virgin media HD box gives a fantastic picture. I have tried the 360 and ps3 on other tv's and they work fine....

Ok, firstly, disclaimer.

This "solution" utilises a "service" menu, that only trained engineers should use. You are not one, you are an "end user". biggrin.gif So am I, but I paid attention. wink.gif

Use of this information is entirely at your own risk, you mess up your telly, it's your own silly fault. Don't go messing with stuff in there you don't know about.

Ok.

To bring up the "service" menu, put the TV in standby mode, then press in sequence :

Onscreen Display ( the little screen with the i+ in it )
5 ( channel number 5 )
Volume Up ( upper end of volume button )
Analogue ( middle top button )

The TV should switch on and when it's warmed up, you should see a screen with lots of big green lettering on it.

Press the "menu" button ( middle bottom )

Use the direction dial to move down to "LCD Drivers" and press right on the dial to enter this menu.

Move down to "S H Pos Reg R". It should be "10", change it to "11". ( Left/Right to adjust )
Move down to "S H Pos Reg G". It should be "10", change it to "11".
Move down to "SHPos Reg B". It should be "10", change it to "11". (it's on the next "page", keeping scrolling down the menu)

Press the menu button to drop out of the menus, and the standy button to drop to standby. Switch back on, and hopefully your ghosting will be gone.

Picture is cut off on the bottom of my Hitachi 57F500

Verical position is hard to adjust and is in service menu. A service manual will get you there, but you might get lucky with the vertical size adjustment. If you open the front of the TV, the vertical size is adjusted with a knob on the deflection board. Remove the speaker grille and take off the access panel. You will see two knobs, one horizontal and one vertical. Be careful, those red wires have 30,000 volts on then, don't touch anything but those knobs. If its just an adjustment, the v-size knob will fix. Set it so ESPN ticker is just above the bottom of the screen. *Service mode - the manual tells little but entering is done by "press and hold the input button, press the power button, release both after you hear HV come up" .. the v-pos parameter is in there, but this manual doesn't say where or how to adjust, procede at your own risk. If you get into trouble, pull the power so you don't save any settings. I believe you just navigate through the menus to find the parameter and use arrows to adjust. Enter may save. Sorry the service manual I have tells nothing much.
