Regardless of which GPS unit you use, finding sufficient satellites can be difficult if you are working in an area with trees/mountains/hills or other obstacles. Here are some suggestions to locking onto satellites:
1.) Mission Planning. If you think you're going to be working in a tricky area, but sure to check mission
planning. This software allows you to input a location and obstacles, and gives you the times when satellites
will be best.
2.) Wait. It takes the GPS units varying amounts of time to "find" satellites, but if satellites are visible, the
unit should lock on within 5 minutes.
3.) Move. If possible, move into an area that has a clearer view of the sky.
4.) Face south. This is especially important if you are using the GeoXT. Turn the GPS antenna so that it is
facing the southern sky. The majority of satellites have their orbit so that they appear in our southern sky.
There are also satellites in the east and west, and almost no satellites to the north.
5.) Rotate around. If facing south doesn't work, slowly rotate the GPS around 360 degrees.

My nuvi 1350 wont navigate if it is plugged in

This is because a couple pins on the rear USB jack are broke, making it think its connected to a PC. I've repaired this problem many times. More info can be found here:

My naxtar gps wont load into the maps. it loads through the first screen then i hit navigator and it takes a bit loading then comes up with "error, cannot start the main navigation engine!...

Since the operating system and navigation software are preloaded into the internal flash memory of the GPS, the freezing may either be software or hardware failure. First, press the "Reset" button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation software can load successfully. If the program still does not load, then the software may be corrupted. Also, if the internal memory fails to read or write and the software cannot load properly, it may be caused by hardware failure. In either case, please return the unit for exchange or repair to the retail location from which you purchased it, or contact us for further assistance.
The link below has the operating manuals and software available and contact numbers.
