Question about Kenwood KDC-X859 CD Player

Open Question

Kenwood KDC x689 will not start

My kenwood sceen started fading out (faded out about two months before it stopped working) then it stopped working. This radio has the door that opens and closes, mine is stuck in the mid open position, I have checked the power to the radio, red and yellow wire, both are good, fuse on back of radio is good. Is there a way to check the face piece? Thank You.

This is a known problem with this Kenwood model (I've had this problem myself with 2 different units). What happens is the flexible printed wiring assembly between the motorized faceplate and the main chassis goes bad over time, and the only solution is to replace it (supposedly replacements are available from Kenwood). I gave up after the second failure and switched to a different brand. I WON'T be going back to Kenwood ever again in the future.

firstly you should remove the power from the unit for a few seconds to reset it. if this doesn't fix it you can remove the top lid and you will see the motor that rotates the fascia, if you unplug the flexible cable that powers the motor and put 6volts on the motor contacts till the fascia rotates and then plug the flexible cable back put the fascia back on and plug the power lead back on to the radio

Do you have a Ipod shuffle?
Is the deck on random?/shuffle?

Try pressing the small reset button on the deck, its small a small black button you would need a pencil tip to reset!

Hope it helps,
Don

SOURCE: turn aux on on kenwood kdc-mp205

In order to access the AUX option the stereo needs to be in Standby mode. To do this just hit the SRC or source button until you reach the Standby option. Now hit the menu button and scroll up or down until you reach the AUX on/off option and just turn it on. Hope you find this helpful.

I have a kenwood kdc-x689. The screen went dim before it stopped working. The fuse on the back of the unit is still good. Please help me! Thanks!

There are more fuses which are to be checked other than the one at the back , The power supply fuse should be within the fuse box of the car , Do check them and you'll be fixed for sure , Just find the fuse box and how to replace one using your owners manual
thank you

Kenwood cd player is making static noise, if the fade is not all the way foward

you could possibly have a speaker wire shorted out, a bare piece of the wire touching metal somewhere that the insulation has worn. and it would be in the rear speaker wires. you might also check for a blown speaker this could cause the problem also.

Need the code

Hi, If this Kenwood has a mode button, ie a button that will decide which source to play like radio,cd,tape or aux try pressing the main power on button and the mode button at the same time for 5 seconds it may then display the word code and allow you to put the code in if you know it, if you dont, you will need to have its memory erased by a kenwood dealer.
