You can download the wireless and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB
support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windows
drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the
drivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
Follow the instructions below to use your webcam
Click on Start then >Control panel>hardware and sound >device manager>imaging devices>web cam....enable it
Another way is to use a IM application like Yahoo messenger,NetMeeting, etc. They will have video capabilities that will work with your webcam. Please take time to rate me thumbs up
HP Compaq has several different models for the CQ42 notebook. If you are haveing issues with the webcamera my first suggestion is to re-install the driver and software for it. I have included the web link to HP Compaq support page. You have two options, 1) Is to input your product name or product number. The product number is the best way to get the correct software and drivers for you notebook. If you dont know your product number there are instruction on the support page that will show you how to find your product number 2) Have the support site automaticly detect it for you.
Try to uinstall the web cam if installed, and allow the computer to reboot and detect the hardware.
Download the drivers or the web camera from the manufacturer's website.
Underneath the Laptop is a Users Label marked Model it should give the FULL model No. - e.g. Presario CQ42-100 - HP made something like 150 different models for the Presario CQ42 !!! so you can see, I'm going to have to guess about this... If your Touchpad has a black(?) dot in the top left corner - tap this once to turn the Touchpad off while you are typing. Touch it again, to turn it back on. Other Presarios' have a switch nearby to do this...
click on the 'start' option at the bottom left hand side corner-->u will see the search bar just above the start button-->type 'web' & see whether the option of webcam cums up or not-->if not then erase 'web' & type 'cam' & now see-->if still u dont get it then type 'media'-->this time the webcam option should pop up-->click on the webcam option & it will b ready to use....
try this & let me know by rating the solution...
